It's the old version unfortunately. It's only £110 inc del from ebikes.ca for a brand new "new" version. Speedicts are only £67 inc del - as long as you have an appropriate Android device to use it with.

Yeah, you could add it as an optional module - like the wheel building one.

    drinking and cycling

I think that even though it's entriely legal to put your willy in a mangle, you'd be daft to actually do it. Same with drink cycling.

Oxygen looking for part time technician-engineer

Hmm, I'm seriously considering it. I worked as a bike technician and sales assistant in an LBS from age 14 to 20 (full time from 19 to 20). I can strip a bike to it's component parts and rebuild, inc bearings, bb's, headsets etc - cytech tech 2 equivalent - including wheel building...

    Lifespan of an ebike?

Indeffinate. Like cars, anything can be kept running given the required expertise and funds. Like cars, bike will only be scrapped when:- 1: You can't find anyone to fix it. 2: Or you decide you don't want to spend the money to fix it.

    Have you stripped again..recently..?.

What chainset was it? When I worked in a bike shop all the cheap chainsets had this happen to them and you could nearly guarantee all sub £250 bikes needed to have new cranks in the first year. Anything above the Acera X level in the Shimano line was ok. We saw problems on Altus and...

    advise with kit needed

As Frank says, spark is ok. You can use the 450w controller - just be aware it's not strictly legal in the UK (but neither are kits actually) :p

    couple of questions re trailer

What's the max max rated rider weight? Most are 105kg. So what would the difference be say betweeb a 75kg rider + 30kg trailer? FYI, my tongxin powered Trex FX 7.5 copes fine with me @ 100kg + 3.8kg of battery, 2kg for the motor and 2kg in the pannier (work laptop).

I said Cycle Path not Psycopath!

Two good things to remember when reading the Highway code:- 1: Sections or sentances starting with should are advisory. If you don't adhere to the advice you won't face criminal proceedings but you could be held accountable in a civil court or have blame attributed. 2: Sections or...

Do members think it is possible to produce a decent e bike for £1k

I think alot of shops participating in the schemes should do what Cytronex do - the base bike gets paid for by the scheme and you buy the battery seperately as an accessory. You could certainly do a decent bike minus the battery for £1k.

Inflated tyres are for lazy people...

Are electric bikes just for lazy people?

If ebike are for lazy people then what doe that make people who commute to work in cars? Or people getting the bus - they are even to lazy to drive thier own vehicle!
