    Any ideas how come?

Electric bike are also expensive. Most people don't ride bikes that cost £1k - they ride bikes that cost £150 from Halfords. Oh, and to the cheating comment - I always reply "so did you cheat when you drove to work this morning? My bike is a form of transport, not a form of exercise - and a...

New Super Light Tongxin Motor Design/Kit

Hey, if your's is smaller and lighter than a tongxin I could be tempted back down to pipe and slippers speed ;) I think you need to borrow a camera off someone ;-) I've got my eye on a road bike when my current bike lease ends.

New Super Light Tongxin Motor Design/Kit

A 260rpm motor (assuming it's a 36v motor) in a 700cc wheel should do 23.65mph. Up the volts to 48v and it should be capable of 31mph - but the amps required to do 31mph would overheat the little motor in no time. I have a 190rpm/36v rated Tongxin in a 700cc wheel running on a 63v batt and...

    Aiming for 16kg

I'd go for the bike Indalo linked. Also, why the concern about a lockable battery? The battery on the cytronex is so small and light just pop it in your back pack when you walk away from the bike (you're not considering leaving it locked up for a long time ina public place are you? If you...

    I'm in the 50% Club

Nope - full power everywhere (depending on pedestrian density of course). If I can't get to work quicker than my car then I'm not interested. If the bike was slower then I might as well take the car!

Fitting a slightly bigger tyre size?

No problem. It's normally frame clearance rather than the rim that dictates allowable tyre width. For example, on my full sus mountain bike I run 1.5 slicks for the road but 2.4 knobblies for offroad.

You can fit cut offs to integrated brake levers:- http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/9442-new-build-4.html#post122119

    Tom's BEAST - 9,000 watt DH Bike

I think here will be fine - it clearly is an ebike although one outside the uks legislation. Of course he'll probably get a better response on a more liberal forum, such as endless sphere* *he does have a thread on es and its a good read.

That's an excellent build - thanks for posting. Love the custom carbon fibre - I've tried it but I never seen to get the resin mix right. You'll have fun here posting a 9kw bike - you'll soon be wishing you stayed on endless sphere ;) The do gooders will be along shortly saying it's not an...

Advice - Ebike Kit via Cycle2work - what's my best option?

I got a Trek FX 7.5 for £700 and paid £42 a month for a year and I've just paid my final payment of £35 - that's only £161 saving on ticket price, but at least it was a no fuss interest free loan as well :-) That was through cyclescheme.

    Turnigy charger

Muckymits - you're ok - let me explain. When you plug a pack into the charger and connect the balance leads, the charger will detect the cell count. In this case it's identified your pack has seven cells (should show 7s on the display) and then it will display the "nominal" voltage of the pack...
