Hi Guys,

We are currently looking for a part time engineer that could help us with our maintenance, servicing and testing our electric bikes. We are looking for someone who is really passionate about electric bikes and understands electrics on ebikes. This is not a full time job but only few hours per week so could be an addition to your current job and it's rather more flexible. The job could be anywhere in the UK and its best if you would already have your existing small workshop.

Successful candidate would need to:
- understand electric bikes and their technology
- respond to customers emails, queries, sometimes phone calls.
- carry on repairs and servicing jobs
- be active cyclist and be able to test our new products.

This job offer is just to support our existing EU service center. If you are interested please send me a PM or email directly at andrew@oxygenbicycles.com

all the best

Andrew

Ok I will do it for a company ebike, paid private health care and £60K a year.

I bring my dynamic customer focused attitude plus extensive experience in electrifying small wheel bikes.

Oh and I also have a 25' * 25' workshop filled with lots of my own shiny tools :p

PS my day job is as an ICT manager of a Government Scientific Research Institute. I think I could fit your job in during evenings and weekends, though my wife might divorce me.

Regards

Jerry

Andrew I am beginning to get the feeling this forum may not be the best place to advertise for this post. It seems like the people here are not taking this seriously enough. Perhaps we need stronger moderation from those with the power to control these things.

Pay peanuts...... Get monkeys:p
BTW as a public sector worker looking at the Director/Board level management I would have in my experience the opposite is true, its the monkeys that seem to get the better pay.

Sorry to make light of your post Andrew, but as highlighted probably not the best forum to post it in.

PS I have to say observing these forums and the ebike market place, this really is the last area I would want to work in or rely on for my living. Hats off to you guys that do though.

Regards

Jerry

Hmm, I'm seriously considering it.

I worked as a bike technician and sales assistant in an LBS from age 14 to 20 (full time from 19 to 20). I can strip a bike to it's component parts and rebuild, inc bearings, bb's, headsets etc - cytech tech 2 equivalent - including wheel building, hydraulic brakes and basic suspension servicing (although I'm "tool limited" for suspension work). I'm obviously familiar with ebikes (check my post history esp my build log).

I've got a fully equipped garage so I could undertake pretty much anything but it's limited space - how many bikes are we talking about at once?

If I sound like the kind of chap you're looking for drop me a pm and we'll discuss.

LOL what a laugh, thanks Jerry for your application. I'm sure we will bin it quickly but you certainly made my day :p Good luck with building your Li-Po's
Lipos ? ARE you crazy ?

I would not put those unexploded bombs near my ebike!

Another potential manager who does not pay attention to his work force ;)

I use A123/LiFeP04 cells, a much safer chemistry.

Regards

Jerry

Personally, rather than looking for a short term, off the shelf, quick-fix solution, why not invest in a long term one by taking a young unemployed person off the register and train them up so you will know their capabilities and eventually reap the benefits of having a reliable, knowledgable member of staff.

in situations like this they probably need someone up and running as of yesterday...But I entirely agree

They have invested in a full time service centre already, now they just need some extra capacity. Why should it be a young unemployed person, there are plenty of skilled unemployed people approaching retirement that find it just as hard to get work.
For some people this is a nirvana job - work from home doing something you like and get free bikes into the bargain. The pay will probably be low but if it is only a few hours a week then it can take over hobby time leaving you free to do your day job.
I suggested it to my wife last night and she went mental, to be fair she's right as I don't have a few hours a week going spare.

Just thought I'd post my CV in case you are interested:

Will work hard when cornered like a rat.

Good problem solving skills when placed under constant supervision and prompted.

Can chat for hours during work time.

Sets low easily attainable standards of professionalism and fails to achieve them.

Can nick any necessary tools off colleagues / from Halfords.

Will have workshop space once that I have removed Ford Sierra project car and old sofa from front lawn.

Heavy drinker, but not an alcoholic.

Only three convictions for theft from employer.

Reliable (only thrown 3 sickies so far this month)

Can ride a bike.

If you are interested, please PM me.

You paint a rosey picture Mussels, idyllic even, but I think the reality would be a little different.
I think we are talking about working in a tough commercial environment with all that entails, together with dealing with end users direct, awaiting collections and deliveries - sounds more like a 24/7 on call position - leaving very few of those predicted hours a week to do the work.
I would be put off just with all the expense of red tape and hoops that’s would need to be overcome before even lifting up a spanner.
Why create a new cost centre, not very efficient, in this case why not expand (does not apply to Heathrow:p) what you already have established to cope with the extra demand?

p.s.
I believe the workforce should be a mixture of young and old so that that knowledge can be passed down the line, that way you don't keep reinventing the wheel.
