Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

But you can't register them as an s-class can you? You'd have to register them as a motorbike. Then you're limited to only being able to ride them on the road, so you might as well have a motorbike. In Germany they can still ride thier s-class bikes on cycle paths and insurance is very...

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

Have you seen my bike? Nothing wrong with the quality or contruction there :-) Bikes are childs play when compared to building a car. As I've said before - I'd be happy for this country to have a S-Class equivalent and I'd happily display a registration plate, have third party insurance etc...

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

Quite right, and if you ride an illegal ebike you should expect zero compensation or assistance from a third parties insurer if you are involved in an accident. Fortunately though the NHS does not suspend it's insurance cover for you if you ride an illegal ebike :-)

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

Nope - failed with one side on the handbrake being innefective and the speedo out a little - two thing I couldn't test in a garage :-) Passed the week after (drive to Carlisle for 15min retest) no problems. Overall though, the SVA process was no biggy really and it was nice to know the car...

That's it, resort to personal insults when losing an argument. Is this how the cool kids are rolling these days? I think I might make use of that ignore function.

Yes I was - I was driving my Westfield to the SVA test center.

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

I drove an unregistered, untaxed and no mot'd vehicle on a 200 mile round trip from Blackpool to Carlisle and I was fully insured :-) EDIT - I see you've revised your statement above :-) Incorrect - no MOT only invalidates insurance in respect of damages attributable to yourself - no MOT...

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

I don't have insurance (or home insurance). So are you telling me you can't leggally drive a car without an MOT? As I've already said, it depends on the level of mens rea but you're not listening so I'm not going to bother trying again. I'll be sure to post on here to let everyone know!

So, playing devils advocate for a moment then, if it's now classed as a motor vehicle does that mean you'd be covered on your "driving other vehicles" part of your car insurance policy as long as someone else owns the "bike"? Best advice you've given all year! OP:- Don't believe ANYTHING...

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

Wrong. For it to apply you would have to ride an illegal ebike "knowing" that doing so would cause an accident. I think we can all agree that riding an illegal ebike doesn't automatically mean you're going to have an accident. Wrong again. Riding an illegal ebike is not a reckless...

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

It's not rubbish - but of course it's upto you whether to believe me or not - I'm not going to be able to change your mind without it being tested in a court of law. BTW - I am trained in contract law (via my work as a Trade Union personal case rep and negotiator), which included two modules...

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

I've covered that :-) A question for you. Q: If you drive a car without a valid MOT, but you have fully comp insurance, and your involved in a "fault"" acciedent:- 1: Is your insurance invalid? 2: Would your insurance pay for damages inflicted to a third party? 3: Would the...

Third Party and Public Liability Insurance - Advice Sought

Not true. Whilst you would not be covered for damage to yourself or your bike in the event of an accident, insurers cannot void third party liabilities - i.e. if you hit someone they would be covered under the thrid party element of the insurance as the thrid party element of the contract is...

    Wheelies on an E-bike?

Oh Jesus, I really fear for some of the old timers hearts on here when they get a load of that clip! Oh bloody hell, I'll start writing the eulogy's now!

Because a moped doesn't suit my requirements. 1: I don't need to go 30mph. 2: I want to ride on cycle paths, not roads (I think I'd get stopped pretty sharpish for riding down blackpool prom on a moped). 3: Although I'm happy to pay a little for insurance, I don't want to pay the level...

I concur Flecc actually believe it or not. I'd love to see an S-class (which my bike is effectively) in this country and I'd happily display a registration plate and have insurance and all the requirements that go with it. My needs are for an s-class vehicle - not a 15mph ebike and not a...

Variety is the spice of life :-) Personally I love these threads. People can tootle around on their under powered, low speed bikes and take an age to get to work - I don't care - if that's what they want from an ebike then fine. I'll happily continue getting to work quicker on my ebike...
