Thoughts on converting Giant Road e+1 to 1x drivetrain

I run a 42 on the front and it is a little under geared for me (700C with 2" Big Ben tyres) a 44 would be more suited. I do think that for round town use a 38 wold be perfect - range of speeds at cadence from 13 to 42 km/h

    Bbs01 or 2

You could swap out the controller for a 48v one and use a 48v battery. I say this because like me you have a high cadence and at 36v I have issues with back EMF. My motor is a BBS01 clone and has the same rated cadence. I now use 44.4v (12S) and the cadence is about right, I just need a...

Commuting on roads on FS and HT

They are designed to take the bumps out of a ride not to bob around, mine doesn't move a mm until it is needed. Never touched the spring setting, I am in the middle of the weight range for that particular spring.

    Bosch Power Stations

I was going to say "what is CCTV?" Anyone need a Bosch motor? There is a bike which has been badly locked to street furniture just around the corner for about 10 days. It even has pigeon poop on the saddle...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

One thing is clear for me, a compulsive label reader when it comes to food, no more UK food stuff in my home after brexit, I will no longer have the quality guarantees and EU consumer protection.

Is there an road legal kit for an 48v 14.5ah battery?

Hot rodding: Depending on the quality and heat resistance of the magnets, temporary loss of magnetism can start at 80°C and permanent loss at more or less 120°C. Standard ball bearings have a maximum operating temperature of about 120°C. Nylon gears also don't like excess heat, the best way to...

    your gainful employment ?

No fear! I think the fear of gravel rash got to me at about age 12... Tyres must have been a lot better back then because we did some stupid stuff on bikes on the farm on the only bikes we had: Raleigh 24" "all purpose", mudguards dynamo, chain guard, the works. Opposite the house there was a...

If they insist on changing the motor it must be the clutch sticking and I am with flecc on this, why is the Bafang motor having faulty clutches only on those bikes? They make hundreds of thousands of motors every year. Clutches do stick from time to time, the other day I turned the pedal on the...

Unplug the controller from the wheel and go for a ride. Or two, or three... Ride far enough for the problem to either show up or not. If it doesn't then get a new controller.

    lights powered from ebattery?

Test the output with your multi meter! If it is a KT or a Bafang controller the output is usually 6v/3W decent lights require more. Mine is connected directly to the battery and will handle 49v despite being rated for 42v and the rear light gets its 6v power supply from the front light.

    Hats off to Garaint.

So you saw where I live yesterday? My training rides on the flat are to St-Pée-sur-Nivelle, about 12 km and a bit from home. I might try the 31 km ride at the end of the year but it is very dangerous when open to trafic, they all drive like baboons out that way... On the main road there is a...

Changing number of magnets in cadence ring?

I changed from 8 to 12 and modified the setting in the LCD-3. Start up is smoother and quicker (less pedal rotation needed for 2 magnets to pass the sensor).
