Commuting on roads on FS and HT

Not the NCX, as long as you are pedaling on the smooth it doesn't move a mm. When you hit a bump the parallelogram moves the seat backwards and downdownwards absorbing the shock. I would think the simple pogo stick ones on the other hand absorb quite a bit of pedaling power.

Commuting on roads on FS and HT

It is absorbed by the rear suspension, you can feel the bike "squatting down" when you apply considerable effort. That energy going into the suspension isn't going into making you go forward which is why there is lockout on suspensions in the first place.

    Is Green Aviation Really Coming?

I thought the UK was dumping the waste in the Irish sea? They tried off the coast of Spain and France but that didn't go down well with the locals...

    on the beach

I don't go to the beach, I live there :) The only time I have had corrosion issues is when I left the bike at the GF's place. And she is further from the beach than me but closer to a tidal river so the air seems to be much more salt laden at her place. I mounted SKS mudguards on her bike and...

Which hub motor for my handbike (Q100H?)

Slung under the orange bracket across the front of the wheel. Why are you looking at a freewheel motor (Q100H) surely that is a cassette hub?

    Poor clearance derailleur

What brand is that derailleur? What size cogs does it take? On the getting the derailleur in the long grass issue tried that yesterday... The chain came off just where it was most inconvenient (traffic wise) and I couldn't pedal back onto the road, being in bottom gear the wheel just kept...

Can i dump the crappy Brake Levers

I have a hidden wire brake sensor on the back brake. You can get a couple from PSWpower for $12: http://www.pswpower.com/ven.php?cargo.2016-an-jt6a The page is a bit confusing but there are two brake sensor in each lot.

Commuting on roads on FS and HT

I have taken this one for an 18 km (each way) spin. I don't like the feeling of losing part of my hard effort when riding up hill. Comfort wise My NCX seat post is just as good. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/boriginal-700-electric-bike-id_8353006.html

Can i dump the crappy Brake Levers

You can mount a bra Hydraulic brakes on both bikes? A button on the bars will do the trick, often has a horn symbol on it. You wire that up to the brake cable on the controller. https://bmsbattery.com/parts/380-ebike-speaker-button-parts.html

What does a bit of extra weight on an ebike actually do?

My trike weighs about 17 kg (constructor number), I have added about 1 kg of tyres, a rack and carry panniers with tools, lock, water and raingear. Add lights, a bell, a horn... So not far off 20 odd kg at the least. It is a pig to get going, so I am pretty good public for ads touting trikes...

    Smaller, subtle 48v battery options?

And catching fire in a public place aside you won't be injuring anyone with your battery. Will you? I mean taking it out of the bag and using it to beat up the guy who just refused right of way is off the cards are we agreed? :D

Orbea Road or All-Road - Which One?

15 models of Gain road  So it all comes down to a compromise price/components I guess, I'm glad I'm not into road bikes :D

    PAS Controller Power Levels

In theory 100%. I Plugged the Watt meter into my 10.4 Ah bottle battery and emptied it and it gave just about that 373 Wh IIRC (who's counting the 10th of Ah?). It was still charging to 42v at the time now it is good for 41.7v.

UK to Harmonise Electric Bike Law with Europe?

If you look at the graph above 1000 W is a super athlete pedaling like a mad man for 3 seconds on an ergo-meter. Any 350-500 W geared hub motor with a 25 Amp controller and a 48v battery will give you 1000 W at the wheel, it won't be road legal though. My GSM with a 20 Amp controller and a fully...

Full sus for 18 mile commute on road

OP you can put 2 kits on bikes of your choice for that kind of money and have a bike better suited to each task. The saving would be in using the same battery for both bikes. A steel framed trekking bike with rear hub motor (steel frame means no faffing about with torque arms) A full sus MTB...

UK to Harmonise Electric Bike Law with Europe?

That is a mistake we have already discussed here on the forum a couple of years back - it should read "nominative maximum power output of 250 W" as does EN 15194.

UK to Harmonise Electric Bike Law with Europe?

About 450 W for an hour for top riders. Just under 200 W for an hour for NASA's "healthy men" - I think I may qualify for that rating at the moment with my recent 32 km/h average speed. All 250 W rated motors will run for an hour at 450 W if you have enough battery on board, the controller...
