    Conversion kits and battery

The problem with buying a cheap direct drive kit is they are very power hungry indeed. Forget the 1000w moniker. Most 250w nominal legal hubs can put out at least 500w and many 800w. Most are geared and use battery at lower amps In the same manner one 12ah battery is not the same as another...

    Sqeaking brakes

Sounds like a lot of effort! I use a single alternative method. Just ride till it goes away. It always does!

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

On the one hand it's great to hear this. On other, well, understanding in the manner suggested has to be earned. And this forum has few positive stories to counter the many negative. Over years to boot

I'm a year round commuter as well as riding for fun. Just need good gear to get out there! (waterproofs, gloves etc) II actually like it when the weather is crazy and the sea is crashing. Just need to be prepared!

Case studies - how has your electric bike changed your life?

I'm 41 and bought my first ebike at 25 which was rubbish and got stolen. Then again at 31 and built, fixed and ridden ever since. So outside your age demographic just now but experience within. Happy to help if I can

    Carrera Subway controller

The wires that go I to the blocks seems odd to me but I've never played with one so no idea. Hopefully VFR or Nealh or someone equally knowledgeable will know (they will!) seems like black and red thin and one thick red. I'm going to hazard a guess on the 4 wire connector as a controller...

    First ebike conversion.

Will it not fit at all? Only you can buy HL style batteries that are side loading, brighton ebikes have them in stock now and then

    Is this any good ?

Don't disagree with any of that! It's just a personal thing. Maybe I've had a run of bad luck. For me second hand batteries have never been a good experience no matter the sellers say/belive

    Is this any good ?

I also wouldn't touch it just because of the battery. Second hand batteries are too risky for me. Especially when it is making up most of the bike costs But I've seen these done much worse. This at least has a 4 piston front saint's and rear slx with large rotors. There is one done with a front...

Could this be a lead-acid battery?

I can attest to this as, despite being told by vfr, I still spent ages reviving all cells in a similar pack back to 4.2v slowy and painfully. Then reassembled pack, hooked it up and drove off. About 10 yards before 42v became about 15v. I think the case is in the shed still

Could this be a lead-acid battery?

Thank goodness for that!! What with this, the rugby and the arrival of my EU passport (as a dual national) its been a great week!

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

I once went into the Shoreham branch to say Hi being a local ebike enthusiast. Reception was relatively indifferent until I mentioned pedelecs forum in passing....and the temperature in the room dropped by 20 degrees and conversation ended!

Hub Geared Electric Bikes - What Has Happened To Them?

Hmm 3 sprockets at a tenner each and 3 chains at various prices but all under 15 quid. Still on same bling ring which has done all but a few hundred of the miles one chain and sprocket was destroyed in an ill advised 3 miles jaunt on the sand when there was a super low tide Oh and two jockey...
