New creation - and a question.

Ignore the "500w" rating on controllers - they are meaningless. Look at the rated amps. You're looking at something like 12/14amps for that battery - typical of a "36v/250w" controller. The trouble is, that big, heavy direct drive motor will feel gutless at that amp level. For that motor -...

New creation - and a question.

It's not the capacity or the voltage that's in question - it's the C rate. That batt will only be rated to output about 350watts constant - pulling 800 watts from it regularly will reduce it's life massively. The Burisch controllers are limited to around 12amps I believe so that's a max...

    e-cigarettes

Interestingly I've been speaking conducting some research for the TUC about it over the last couples of months and they've issued a couple of statements, the latest on Wednesday:- Trades Union Congress - Risks 595 - 2 March 2013 Trades Union Congress - More evidence needed on claims made for...

    e-cigarettes

Wow - that's a classic case of cognitive dissociation if ever I saw one! But hey - you're free to do whatever you want, even if it affects your health, whether you believe it or not. Don't just force your choice on others ok? FYI - I don't drink alcohol for 364 days of the year either ;-)...

    e-cigarettes

It's hard to overdose via smoking becuase as you say, you hit the limit on the other aspects smoking brings to the table but it's actually easy to overdose when you liquify it - I remember an assistant at our science lab being hospitalised when he spilt a thimble full on the back of his hand -...

    e-cigarettes

It's not steam - it's glycol (or glycerin) vapour laced with nicotine - which can cause problems for those who are sensitive to nicotine. You can still "smoke" them outside but not inside. Also, there is concern at the unregulated nature of ecigs and the highly variably quality of the...

My work has just banned them from being used on the premises (ecigs, not ebikes).

    Saint Annes nr blackpool

I live in Bispham which is just north of Blackpool and commute to St Annes every day ;-) And yes - the promenade is a dedicated, car free cycle route all the way from here to here - the bit between South Pier and North Pier is busy with peds so keep your wits about you on that stretch :-)...

    Pro Connect Upgrade

Crown race remover You don't have to get replacement crown races exact - most 45deg anyway unless you have something very exotic - something like this will do. As for setting the race onto the forks - go to B&Q and get a bit of thick plastic drain pipe for a couple of quid.

    8Fun Kit Mod to 48V

KU63 controllers have 63v caps so 48v is no problem. I've run 15s lipo on one (55.5v nominal, 63v fully charged) with no issues). Obviously you'll have the wrong lvc for a 48v battery though so have a think if you need to have some other way of protecting the battery from low discharge.

Two second hand tooth brushes for sale-lets get to the root of this!

Yeah, there's one that goes past me most mornings on the way to work. No one seems to be bothered about it. Or maybe more to the point there aren't any Police around to be able to do something about it.

    World's first hydrogen Fuel-cell e-bike - NOT!

Because the electricity used to produce the hydrogen will be produced with electricity bought at wholesale prices not retail, thus the retail cost of hydrogen and electricity will be comparable. The main cost with hydrogen won't be production anyway - it'll be storage and transportation.
