Exactly what is the 'Rat trap' for

From back in the days before Bungee cord was invented. Another historical wart... I don't and won't have one, probably too many bad memories of bloody and bruised fingers...

First Road Legal S-Pedelec in the UK?

In France you would have to mount a moped electric horn (going to put one on my trike). Indicators are optional on a moped.

Nope. On the Danish cargo one I linked to there is but on a sports trikes you lean out on the corners, reminds me of the good old days when I was monkey in my mates side car - home built in ply attached to a 250 cc Suzuki kitted to 350 cc.

I'm really glad to know I am not the only one braking on slopes like that :) You can imagine it on a trike sitting cm from the ground and watching the scenery ripping past at 70+ km/h

    Carrera E replacement.

Two of those in series is a 10.4 Ah 460 Wh 44.4v battery. If you pedal a bit and are economical on assistance levels you could get 70 km from a 36v motor with those Wh (I have done). I don't know how much more Wh a 48v motor uses but would suggest 55-60 km range (34-37 m) if you do a bit of...

    The wind, it doth blow

I stay off the coastal road when it blows and off the main road when branches start falling on it. The trike is a wonderful tool for riding in the wind compared to an upright.

First Road Legal S-Pedelec in the UK?

That was me I think, I meant to say above that a normal open face helmet weighs over 1000g and the Cratoni is only 850g. If I was you I would use this: http://casco-helme.de/en/fahrrad_products/ROADSTER/index.php and negotiate in case of being stopped by plod... High impact crash on a bicycle...

But that helmet is in carbon fibre and weighs how much less than an open face?

The average percentage on the steep climb of your graph is 4.26% over about 2 miles - 450 ft / 10560 ft. There will surely be spots a bit steeper of course. I do quite often a 5.74% average climb out of Behobie and 2.3 km up to 132 m. Google gradients says that there is a section that goes 2%...

    Carrera E replacement.

Short answer: depends on the LiPo. Long answer: LiPo ratings have to be taken with a grain of salt. A 10 Ah 10C LiPo pack can in theory give 100 A constant output but in reality the R/C guys and the US hot rod e-bike guys say that 20% to 25% of that number is more realistic. My own personal...

Bosch performance motor error 500 and taking online purchased bike to a local bike shop.

If I was to buy another bike I have quite a few choices of dealers within a 50 km radius but none of them sell what I want... I could of course go to the LBS and ask them to order one and negotiate their margin with the manufacturer I suppose but I wouldn't pay above list price for the privilege.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

In France a study showed that 2.15% of people on welfare commit fraud. Unless the UK is again "special" in this field similar figures should hold with you lot as well. In 2009 the sum was about 540 million euros. That same year income tax evasion was estimated at around 15 billion euros...
