    Puncture proofing tyres

5500 km no punctures. Two different makes of puncture resistant tyre, both sticky soft rubber with kevlar belts. I pulled a small screw out of one. - all hawthorn hedges have been ripped out here - I stay out of the area covered in broken glass and metal bits fallen off cars on the side of the...

    Inverter ( 12 v to 240) ?

I think there must be more than a 220v AC to 42v DC converter in a charger am I correct? The Amps will go down during the final part of the charge when balancing, is that done by the charger or the BMS? Or a little by both?

    Inverter ( 12 v to 240) ?

What would be nice is a 42v DC power supply that can output at 2A and a 12v to 42v boost converter.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Banned in France since July 2016, fruit and veg ones have to be majority made of cornstarch (or other biodegradable) since January 2017. Les Anglais ont opté pour une taxe d’environ 6 centimes d’euro, après avoir voulu stopper la réglementation européenne en faveur d’une réduction des sacs...

    ebike build from scratch

Maybe being in a small closed black triangle bag and external temperature being in the mid 30°C range might have something to do with it? I can see those conditions plus a long climb at full power getting it up to and over +60-70°C quite easily. So back to OPs question: I was thinking about one...

This brake suitable for BBSO1 overclocked?

In theory this should make the brake as strong as a hydraulic V-brake. Hydraulics adds the incredible force you can't achieve by pulling manually on a wire. Your weak point will become your rim, I don't know if they are designed to stand up to that much side pressure. My vote is go for it.

Pedelecs that you like, but perhaps shouldn't.

Pedelec accessories you shouldn't? I can't really but I probably will: Now that I have a trike and most two wheel trailers become dangerous above 40 km/h. But $340 for a trailer? You can buy a push bike for less than that!

The bog standard KT 15 A sine wave controller that came with the Mxus from Ciclotek, the same as the one sold by BMSbattery. If the display is to be trusted it peaks at 14.xxA (forgotten the exact number) - about 546 W at between 38 and 40v.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Remember the story of the boy who cried "Wolf!"? In any case brexit is hardly ever first page news here, the English are considered even odder than before and the UK is no longer a trustworthy and reliable partner...

EBMA files an anti dumping complaint on chinese e-bikes.

The Dacia Logan is second most reliable compact car in France after the Nissan Pulsar and yet Dacia is way down your list... Grain of salt time? Or the ones they export are designed to break down? Maybe having the steering wheel on the wrong side?

You mean you don't live on the blunt end of the Pyrenees? ;) Between me and San Sebastian, 38 km distance, there are two significant hills which require changing down if: - I don't want to get into town all hot and sweaty - I want to improve my battery range I could stop at the foot and the...

    ebike build from scratch

I must be doing something wrong :( With the Mxus (260 rpm?) in a 26" wheel and the controller in a bag after climbing my typical 3.4 km hill at assistance level 5 the controller was too hot to touch and the bag smelt of hot plastic. I am not sure that temperatures so high are good for wire...

A 15A controller will also fit in a B'Twin (or other) tool bottle. You might want a waterproof vent in the top to let the excess heat out.

Planning my bbs build - California chainring adaptor vs bling ring

Interesting. I haven't noticed with the GSM on the upright but I did change the cranks and gained a whole heap of Q factor. I think the easy solution on the trike if there is a problem would be to use cranks with different Q factors. For the two chainrings my solution is to move the derailleur...
