So the vicar normally does 112 funerals a year, and that year he only did 84, most of which were nothing do do with covid. How did you extrapolate from that that it was a catastrophic year for covid? He pointed out three memorable deaths. None of them were related to covid, but were probably counted as such, by the government, not by him.

Not sure where you got that from, but it did cause me to look it up. We come under the Hambleton administrative area that had 9.5% more deaths in 2020 vs 2019 (compared to the England and Wales average of 14.5%). Some of the poorer urban areas had it much worse, Middlesbrough (our nearest town) had an increase of 38 % 19% (looked in wrong column)

I can't think of any worse candidates than those two. Badenoch is a little better but really not much. The winner may turn out to be Farage.

We are lucky not to catch it in the first year as the virus mutated to adapt to humans and gradually became less virulent.

That didn't trouble me at all since I needed no medical attention whatsover, but I assumed it gave me some immunity since I missed both the Alpha (Kent) variant and the Delta variant, despite so many around me contracting them.

But after the two jabs and booster in year two I caught the Omicron variant. Once again that didn't trouble me in any way, both times I was very much less ill than I'd previously been with influenza. In fact the Pfizer booster had made me far more ill with a sudden run of daily and nightly tachycardia attacks, a risk they finally reluctantly admitted to in the face of so many yellow card reports

I still maintain there was far too much hysteria over covid. Nationally and internationally populations haven't been dented and are at record levels and I don't believe lockdowns and the like made any difference, especially when they were so widely ignored or even deliberately breached en masse.

I reckon Covid was rattling around weeks or months before - the worst cough I have ever experienced was at the end of November 2019, I believe caught from a gambling addict customer who spent a lot of time in casinos, which like all casinos are filled with Chinese gambling jetsetters. At one point I feared I would require oxygen, almost called for an ambulance because I couldn't breathe. Proof early adopters of any new technology suffer the most - best wait till it matures.
