    Night Riders - Canal Routes

Hang on a minute, I've just been to the official canal waterways website and look what I've just found, does his mean I can cycle it? It shows up as a red dash (footpath) on opencycle maps.

    Night Riders - Canal Routes

I'm going to have a look tomorrow at an access point local to me. Google maps shows some signs there but I can't read them.

    Night Riders - Canal Routes

I can find canal routes local to me on the map but they show up as footpaths, are they still ok to cycle on, similarly I can only find a "the dingle" showing as a footpath too ? Is it a case of just give it a go on one of these canal paths or would I get complained at?

Best way to find and navigate off-road MTB routes

Great, OK I'm going to give Viewranger a try, I've found a couple of green dashed lines going across fields near to me on it's opencycle map so am trying it out this weekend.

Using Opencycle maps are the green dashed lines bridleways we can cycle on?

    Small Rear Xiongda Motor

The sound isn't that loud and I don't find the resistance a problem but i've not used it much yet. I am hoping to do some mileage with it when the weather starts to improve next year so it might reduce when it's been used a while.

Best way to find and navigate off-road MTB routes

A good thread as I have been thinking the exact same thing recently and didn't know where to start. With Gubbins and BazP mentioning bridleways (to do with horses apparently) I had a search for bridleway maps and came across this horse related website. I just stuck my postcode in and found loads...

Spot welder - change out transformer for car battery

Could the power trip off from maybe using another high power device like a kettle/tumbledryer at the same time as trying to spot weld with one of these?

    Oxygen v Ophelia!

My 10mile commute home was into 45mph head/cross winds buffeting me about, all good fun. Good job I was on my bike with the Bafang CST which just ploughed right through it but my controller was red hot and my 4 year old battery was struggling a bit. I've got it again in the morning and probably...

arrgh!! wrong motor - now what?

What are the chances of a 48v motor having good torque at 36v? A light 36v 250rpm motor sounds ideal for me in the future.

    Cycling in the Rain!!!

I bought some the same from a local walking shop and found out yesterday they are not waterproof above the foot area too. I think this is because they are for walking in snow where they only need the lower part waterproofed and above the ankle parts warm padded. I am also going to spray...

What about Altura Night Vision jackets, is that made from the right material for the wash in stuff? (mine leaks in a bit now)

    Cycling in the Rain!!!

I recently got these mudguards for my 26" wheeled bike and they are full length although you would need those clips Wheel-E mentions. Not sure on the wheel size of your bike so worth checking 26" mudgards will fit.

    Winter cycling jackets

Dunlop Hiviz bomber work jacket from Sports Direct. £22 waterproof and are so warm on freezing cold days you need to unzip it abit although not really breathable but I've never found that a problem. Also the hiviz lights up like a beacon in the slightest of headlights. My first lasted a few...

    Cycling in the Rain!!!

In bad weather I cycle regularly in a cheap pair of mid high Karrimor walking boots which stay waterproof for maybe a year or so, I also spray them with nikwax every now and then. I do like those boots Damian links to above though. May have to try some when my karrimor's start letting water in...

    Cycling in the Rain!!!

I always wear something like these safety glassed to keep the wind, midges and rain out of my eyes. I've also got some tinted ones for rare sunny days...

    puncture proofproof

Some presta valves can have the ends unscrewed out, my schwalbe ones do. If so, unscrew the small nut right to the end, then carefully with a pair of pliers grip the small nut and the very end bit of body and slowly unscrew, being careful not to damage anything with the pliers gripping teeth.

Tip for touching up bike scratches!

A great recommendation. I bought one to try coloring in the silver edge around my wheel rim since I have disc brakes and it works great, just de-greased first, really easy to do with no mess/overspray or smell. I have done 3 full wheels with 2 coats and I'm sure there is still some paint left in...

    New tiny Xiongda motor

I only used the 12S that once to try it. Unfortunately because of bad weather recently we haven't used the motor since then and I will be planning on putting serious miles on it next year after winters over as I don't think it will like the headwinds I often get during winter.
