    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't think that lock downs were ever meant to stop the spread, simply slow it down so that hospitals did not get overwhelmed. Just like ordinary face masks do not protect you, simply slow down any minute particles you breathe out so protecting others

    Speed links

Answered my own question with the below photo, the side plates get thinner on the higher gear range, so obviously must the kwik link and therefore weaker.

    Speed links

I know that the external dimensions are thinner, but are the side plates actually thinner as well?

Are the actual plates thinner, or is it just the chain is thinner?

For me it's worse. I was 42 years old when they made that film!

    Latest e-bikes on Tomorrow's world - 1985

I bet that in 40 years time, people will be looking back at our bikes in a similar fashion.

    Speed links

Well I have always re-used kwik links on my 8 speed and my 6 speed. I didn't know you were not supposed to, they re-use just fine and I cannot understand why you should not do so. We used to re-use the old type with a fish plate and sliding clip on both bikes and motor bikes.

After ebike conversion, has anyone had a higher rate of broken spokes or bent wheels?

I don't understand how a spoke can get into compression. It is pushing against a hole in the rim and will just push up into the inner tube.

    Battery longevity

I did wonder what the effect of freezing temperatures is, so I put a small 18350 battery from my vape pipe in the freezer for few days. I then took it out, after it had thawed I could not notice any degradation so I am not sure just how cold a lithium battery has to get before it is damaged.

After ebike conversion, has anyone had a higher rate of broken spokes or bent wheels?

Some time ago I hazarded a guess on this forum that the advent of stainless spokes was one reason that so many now report spoke breakage. I don't remember spokes breaking 60-70 years ago. Mine never did, but they were mild steel and could rust. Lots of sailors do not trust stainless rigging wire...

After ebike conversion, has anyone had a higher rate of broken spokes or bent wheels?

Does anybody have any idea of just how much weight a single 14 gauge spoke can support before fracture?

    One of three (I think!!)

OK, so perhaps I was a bit over suspicious, but from time to time we get plagued by the same troll in differing guises, also we do get newly joined persons asking about obscure bikes and then never hear from them again. So, ask yourself, what do you want from a bike? Ebikes are heavy and...

And oddly enough, it is nearly almost always a first time poster. Guess it's a cheap form of advertising (in their mind) just that we are the wrong audience.

Yet another turn any bike into an E-bike motor

In the 1960s I had a Triumph TR2. Loved it. A few years ago I tried to hop into a restored one. What a struggle! Obviously I have grown over the years, or the car shrunk.

    Do pedal reflectors actually work?

So far we have only heard theory as to why they should work. In practice, driving my car I hardly ever see them.

    Do pedal reflectors actually work?

Most of the time the rearward part anyway is masked by the shoe heel.

    Trouble fitting front disc brake

Logically, you could have a huge rotor, almost the same diameter as the wheel!

    Another mid drive

This is just control freakery. People make jokes about the Welsh and sheep, Scots and tight fistedness, Irish and drink. Just relax and enjoy the new year.
