    WhaTT for now

Well, they are very good at hype! 24 volt batteries are so out of date. and only 192 watt hours? Seems to be an ordinary sort of thing, an ebike with an odd drive system (No gears, except for its central location it may as well be hub motor)

    BBS02b Failure

A pet gripe of mine. Modern front mudguards are far too short and should come to below the crank axle. If you look at vintage bike photos you will see that they always did. Quite where this modern fashion of inadequate mudguards came from I don't know, but I bet it was some idiot 'designer' who...

    Worst Pedelec Accident?

I was riding one November on a narrow lane just east of Ypres in Belgium. I had just visited the war cemetery at Railway Wood. I looked behind and saw a large lorry coming up behind. Nothing else about. So, I pulled onto the narrow right hand side grass verge to let the lorry pass. I put my...

No, you wanted legislation to enforce your views on others.

Amoto, I don't know how many times we have had this silly argument. Each time the original poster is arguing from an emotional 'If you had seen what I have seen' basis and bases their argument on 'Stands to reason' type of 'Common sense' grounds. The hard facts say otherwise. We live in a free...

    36v in place of 24v

You will probably find that either the slide rail is bolted or fits into a moulding at the bottom. You need a longer slide rail and drill a hold for the lock bolt. You may have to cut the top off the frame lug to get enough clearance for the battery slide bolt.

    36v in place of 24v

Looking at your picture, the slide rail is too short. Is that the new rail or the old one? Second question, did the old battery lock right through into the frame or only into the slide rail? Mine only reaches the slide rail hole.

No chain and infinite gears - Oyo e-bike with hydraulic drivetrain

I do wonder whether crowdfunding is scam. All you need is some sort of plausible idea, a few thousand gullible fools and you are in business. Produce a few early models and go broke. Who audits the accounts?

No chain and infinite gears - Oyo e-bike with hydraulic drivetrain

I have often wondered about this. It seems to me that possibly there is one engineer/inventor who knows his stuff and unfortunately he employs Art College graduates, advertising people, and spin doctors rather than more engineers, electricians, electronic engineers. The result is an oddity that...

    Integrated controllers in hub motors...

Simply it was too complicated. You could see that at the start. Needing to have a smart phone to control it instead of the manufacturers supplying a dedicated device told me that they were cutting corners. To put all the electronics in one place was courting disaster, especially as they never...

    Integrated controllers in hub motors...

I really like the looks of those bikes. I have come to the conclusion that some people such as myself like to see mechanical complications. That is why The Dorset Steam Fair is so successful. Smooth modern lines might have their appeal, but a lot of people enjoy looking at all sorts of...

    Integrated controllers in hub motors...

Frankly, I find the lines of both my full size ebike and my folding ebike to be aesthetically very pleasing, wires, boxes and all. After all, as a teenager I rode about on a cyclemaster attachment. What with the noise, smoke and vibration, together with number plates, there was no hope of trying...

    Integrated controllers in hub motors...

Probably in about 10 years time, there will be lots of ebikes about and the boot will be on the other foot. It will be that if your bike does not look like an ebike, it will be assumed that you are too poor to afford one!

    Integrated controllers in hub motors...

I simply do not understand this demand for an ebike to look like an ordinary bike. What exactly is wrong with it obviously being an ebike. And apparently far more easily repaired when the inevitable something or other goes wrong.

    Vintage rides

I have two bikes, 1 A Tonaro Enduro purchased in 2011 now on a re-celled battery and going strong. Because this one has a twist throttle I removed the pedelec and get along just fine. 2 A Woosh Gale purchased in 2012, also on its second battery but going well. I have found both bikes, simple...

Why bike part manufactures doesn't make robust ebike specific drivetrain parts?

It is not a matter of what they are designed for, but what is their safe working load.
