    Full Suspension or Not?

Its also fair to remember that not all FS bikes combat bob as well as the next. Full on downhill bikes couldnt give a stuff about bob and only need high quality, long travel, efficient, easily servicable setups. I have to say I think Giant have nailed it with their Maestro setup but it doesnt...

    Full Suspension or Not?

And theres the rub - 'combat' it they have IMO. I chocked the front of my Giant Trance and tried with all my might to compress the suspension with pedal torque alone. It didn't. Obviously things are different when out of the saddle and body weight is moving vertically but thats what...

    Full Suspension or Not?

FS for me, having only just made the change after 30 years of hardtails. Even if I were just using it for road and towpath use I would still use FS and will never go back to hardtail now. It just makes my rides so much more enjoyable due to the comfort. I did try a suspension seatpost (Suntour...

    Oxydrive kits

Quick update on my bike - now got some Rockshox Reba Dual Airs and I took the rear wheel to Halfords to try and sort out my spoke issues for good. I said that I would prefer a full rebuild ie loosen off all the spokes and start again. They quoted £25 for this and I was happy to pay it to end my...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

To be fair I have read that and worse on this thread. It has been questioned on several occasions why there is a distinct lack of participants on this thread, particularly in respect to input from the leavers corner. I will give my viewpoint on this. I have followed and digested every single...

    Oxygen E-Mate rear spoke issues.

I have had issues with my Oxydrive spokes since not long after purchase which I have documented in the main Oxydrive thread. All were out of tension, mostly very loose (could spin nipples with fingers ooh er). I was in a bind so tightened them up equally just to get me out of trouble but now my...

    Novel bike lock

Interesting. My first thought was that it would be classed as a Section 5 firearm much like the CS spray and Pava that British bobbies use. However, without any means to actually discharge anything (other than by destroying it) I am not so sure. There may be all sorts of issues regarding COSHH...

Unbelievably bad experience with a Haibike SDURO Trekking S RX

To be perfectly blunt, you sound like every retailers worst nightmare. As soon as the threats came out (which was in your very first post) I could see what type of individual you are. Yes, the shop answer might not be to your satisfaction but as has been said, it is normal practice for a...

    The new best headlight

Thats what I hadn't hoped for. Do you know if the electronics are swimming in mastic on the OD kit? I know that some controllers are well sealed!

    The new best headlight

Has anyone found an easy way to tap into the 36v of the Oxydrive system? I really wish there was an output port somewhere. The USB one on the battery is handy I guess but I would rather have a light socket, I hate having to strap my bangood pack to the frame and I have forgotton to do it once...

Cheap full suspension brand new electric bikes spied on Fleabay

Awful design, and badly executed. What on earth were they thinking with the controller location. And strapping it to a moving coil spring. Its just poor, really poor. Given that the 'suspension' on the bike would be horrendous anyway the only workable option I could think of on this abortion...

good bike to convert with disc brakes under £400?

I bought the Rockrider, 340 model I think for my boy, and yes you have to be careful if considering future upgrades with some models as his one doesnt have disc mounts on the forks or frame but for the money its a very fine bike.

good bike to convert with disc brakes under £400?

I agree with Daniel, personally I would always build up my own bike from used components but some folks like the fuss free option.

good bike to convert with disc brakes under £400?

If you can stretch to £440 this might do everything you need: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/hoprider-700-city-hybrid-bike-id_8307668.html

good bike to convert with disc brakes under £400?

Might be worth looking at the B'TWIN brand in Decathlon too. I bought my son one after looking through the Halfords offerings and believe they are exceptional value for money. I found they had better components than the equivalent prices Carreras. Failing that, you are pretty much touching into...

    Oxydrive kits

Thanks mate, and thanks again for taking the time to post a picture of that sensor bracket you made as it made my solution much easier! Good work on the build you did, there really can be some good bargains on the s/h market which is where my forks will be coming from. I do like my bottle holder...

    Oxydrive kits

The jerry-built PAS sensor bracket. The heatshrink does run under the tape. I had to extend the wires by about an inch. Can even see my fingerprints in the plastic, I guess it might help if the bike ever gets nicked! The PAS disc clearance - it's tight Jim but we can make it! The plastic...

    Oxydrive kits

Just finished the frame swop on my bike and to say it's transformed the bike is an understatement. My main reason for the swop was because my old Specialized Hardrock frame was a 'small' size and it was. I have lived with it for years but I felt the time was right to get it sorted. I had always...

Best Budget Kit and a few questions?

I will have an as new NCX coming up for sale soon. They are very good indeed and take out a lot of bumps far better than most telescopic seatposts but I have only used it for about 50 miles as I have now gone full sus. And just to add to the debate on weight gain re full sus, the 2012 Giant...
