As tyre width has been mentioned, I found that the 210 setting gave a much closer actual speed despite my tyres being 195. I guess it comes down to the design of the tyre. Mine are Specialized Crossroads which are quite a chunky (tall) tyre despite being only 195 in width. Due to this it would...

    Smart ebike out of production?

I am intrigued as well Dave. As a keen sailor of some 30 years myself, I have yet to hear of anyone who knows anything about boats refer to a 40 knot vessel as a 'motor yacht'. My, how the chaps at Cowes Week must guffaw into their Pimms when this clown berths up, no doubt being somewhat...

    Eyewear for Cyclists

flecc I can highly reccomend something like the Bolle Tracker for your particular issue. They seal right against the skin all round the eye. Comfy too as the seal is a high density foam. I use mine for 8hrs+ when doing Airsoft and they have yet to cause me any discomfort.

Well, all is not sorted as I had hoped. My trial around the garden after my previous efforts seemed ok, but a 10 mile ride today well and truly proved that althought the squeaks had all but dissappeared, the graunching hadn't really gone anywhere. When I realised that I could create the exact...

Thanks d8veh I have managed to sort the problem out, although it had nothing to do with the hub or cassette in the end! I have posted a few pics anyway as it might help the thread, but I never did manage to split the cassette down to grease the ratchet as I couldnt get it off. I did add some...

Cheers, yes I meant to say cassette. Ok I will strip down as much as I am happy to, although I have visions of ball bearings and pawls springing out when the cassette comes off! Does the hub plate come off easily enough as well if I nust remove the 6 bolts? I will try and at least get to the...

    Oxydrive kits

d8veh, do you know if the 11mah kit Oxy hub also strips down easily like selrahc's 13mah one? The hub markings on mine show BF1405H 60288-6. I have managed to isolate the squeak I have and can now make it do it at will. If I lean the bike over to the right and apply sharp downward pressure to...

Ahh OK Neal I thought it was odd that we had different results! Glad we sorted it out, it does indeed appear then that although the legend shows KM it actually reads miles.

Mine is the 11amp non high torque kit and unfortunately it has also developed a 'squeak' after just 140 miles. Its also intermittant which makes locating the source even harder, especially when it only happens when I am on the bike. The frequency does change with wheel rpm so that may help...

Wish i could have helped a little more :(

Steve, I think we are splitting hairs. I agree, a senior officer invokes a Sec60 for an 'area' as I said before, but an individual constable within that area then needs NO suspicion. This was the point I was trying to make. Indeed, you directly quote this yourself when you used the Liberty...

No it doesn't. If that was the case, the anytime, anywhere power of a regular Sec1 stop/search would suffice and Sec60 wouldn't exist.

I *think* you are pretty much agreeing with me.. Searches without suspicion under the terrorism act do exist though. It may have morphed from the 44 into 47a, with the main difference being size of area authorised, but they still very much exist. You say that Sec60 is 'little used'. I would...

Wish i could have helped a little more :(

Although current rights are admittedly somewhat different to the Ways and Means Acts used of old, is is not strictly true that an individual can only be searched if they present immediate suspicion to a specific police officer. Sec60 for example is a stop and search power that allows...

    This arrived today :)

Funny you should mention tyres, it reminded me thats the other OE part on my bike! Shows how much mileage I have done in 9 years! They are Specialized Crossroad EX which are no longer available in the tread pattern I have but the current ones are of the same ilk, that being they use a central...

It'll be fine. Just explain that you need to carry a locker because you dont want to risk a flickback on a folder whilst using the blade to cut your nails. Your honour.

Wish i could have helped a little more :(

Yes, well aware that many police officers carry locking blades. But then I dont imagine that any would have issues justifiying doing so either so its a moot point. Im not for a minute suggesting who should or shouldnt carry a locking blade, and I am certainly not going to pass comment on the...

    This arrived today :)

Yeah it does prevent the bars from turning to 90 deg but its not far off and it really isnt a problem for me. At a guess Its prob down to 80 deg before then cage touches the frame but I rarely use that much lock when riding so I am sure I can live with it! Cheers for the comment. The bike...

Sorry, what bit do you think is 'not the case'? I think I am misunderstanding something. I understand that if no one ever sees it then theres not going to be a problem but I dont think thats what you mean.

If you have a blade with you, especially a locking one without any obvious justification for being in possession of it you are running the risk of being arrested. No ifs or buts. Simply stating 'I am a professional *whatever*' wont help unless it can be confirmed at the roadside or you are in...

Well it seems like I was too quick to judge the oxy odo and for that I apologise. I did a ride yesterday which came up on google maps as 29.2 miles. The oxy odo was zeroed at the start of the ride and despite still showing the KM ledgend, showed 30.1 at the end. I suspect the difference is down...
