Well, I have just gone and done it - Kalkhoff BS10 ordered today

I don't agree with anything you're saying Ronnyuk, lets just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

    Hello everybody

Hi David, As a fellow sufferer of 8 years I can tell you that it will transform your life. They really should be available on prescription. That looks a nice bike too. I'd suggest fitting a chain tensioner if you find you need to adjust the chain a lot. So yes, you've done the right thing :)

Well, I have just gone and done it - Kalkhoff BS10 ordered today

To me it does, sorry. I'd take low power and assist to whatever speed the bike is capable of any day. In that recent Guardian article about the 10 things that stopped people riding bikes was the inability to keep up with the flow of traffic, any legal e-bike hinders that ability in a lot of...

    Hello, i'm a new eBiker

That's good then, I hadn't realised it was only 3-speed. My Nexus 8 isn't happy changing gear under load, but is fine when you pause pedalling briefly to change gear.

    Mad or what?

No buses early on, on the 18th May. Plenty of cyclists to race though, and a lot will be walking. http://www.kilotogo.com/index.php?option=event_detail&event_id=76

    Mad or what?

If I do both ways it's always downhill first. Nearly all the fittest cyclists around these parts try to avoid going up it 99% of the time. I had a tailwind up today, so I just sat in and twiddled, had to use 1st at one point. I really wouldn't fancy it without a motor these days though.

    Mad or what?

It never quite feels like that when you're riding up it. That's my 50.5 mph hill too :)

    Mad or what?

Just think if you ever come on holiday to the peak district and ride up Winnats Pass you might end up with a few of these ;) :)

    Hello from Sheffield

Nice one. They're a great price aren't they. Another member in Sheffield has one, but he hasn't given much feedback on how it performs.

Naughty :D I slowed down and sat behind them, the last one tried very hard to drop me, before I clicked the power up and left them for dead

    Attitude towards E-bikes

I passed 4 cyclists up a hill today, I said hello to each one, not one of them responded. Then again they'd probably be the same even if my bike was unpowered, some just don't like being beaten, and have forgotten the simple joy of being out on a bike.

Thanks for the clarification, I thought that would be the case as the sums didn't add up. I just wanted to make sure you had the correct figures. An E-bike can be quite expensive, and riding one shouldn't be based solely on trying to save money.

The Woosh bike I've seen doesn't have room, so I'm sure a lot of others don't too. The pannier clips won't fit between the battery and the rack tubes.

    Hello from Sheffield

It looks like he may have one of these http://freegoelectricbikes.com/electric-bikes/FreeGoBike/FreeGo-Eagle-Crossbar-Red-16Ah However as a keen cyclist I would direct you towards a Bosch powered bike, a little more expensive yes, but infinitely better, exactly like riding a normal bike, but...

Have you thought about getting something a bit more economical, £250 is a staggering amount for around just 300 miles a month, based on your daily 15 mile commute. Or are you still quoting your old commute costs?
