I don't normally like flat pack, but....

Cheers Eddie. That 3/4 of battery left is amazing. Mine uses all 400 w/h in 17 miles. Although I believe Bosch batteries don't go as far depleted as some. I'm very happy with my bike, but I've nothing to compare it against other than a Cyclamatic. I'd be nice to try another bike one day.

Any thoughts on this yet Eddie?

    What do we think?

I imagine they're very hard on chains and sprockets, high wear rate and possible chain failure. and some brutal gear changes if you need to change gear on a very steep hill. I know my bike is hard on chains, and mine doesn't have anything like that sort of power.

    What do we think?

I quite agree, once the power gets above what is considered legal, crank drive is going to be a liability.

    What do we think?

I wonder how well the chain and sprockets will cope with that kind of power? It does also limit the gearing, but then you shouldn't need any low gears with that power.

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

6.1 minutes ? what happens after that? How about 42 miles with 4900 feet of climbing. I'd like to do a comparison one day. I'd be amazed to see a 400 w/h battery last to the 9 mile mark on that ride in a bike with no input from the rider. Average speed 16.3 mph

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

Throw in 1000 feet of climbing and I presume it would be about 4 miles ?

    Derestricted Haibike Review For Cyclists

Na, there's no extra load involved, a failure is much more likely in the low gears up a steep hill.

    30mph bike options?

Sorry you've misunderstood me. Do you not agree that some bikes with standard gearing and a dongle will not meet the requirement of a 30 mph bike? I have no doubt that by increasing the gearing it will make a 30 mph bike. However having said all that the OP isn't looking for that type of bike...

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

The route makes a huge difference to how manageable the commute is. without knowing what the route entails you can only second guess. For sure even doing an easy route with very little elevation change will take some building up to, even for someone in the normal weight range.

    Derestricted Haibike Review For Cyclists

Currently that's as good as it gets, although I understand that the S-class Bosch with a speed up gadget will assist to double its 28 mph speed !

    Derestricted Haibike Review For Cyclists

I guess you mean 'top 3 gears' do yo think your 1st gear will still be low enough if you gear it up a little? Also remember at 34 mph you're above the assistance level.

    30mph bike options?

I'm surrounded by them. Your point is ?
  18. Artstu

    30mph bike options?

Not strictly true, I imagine there a lot that don't have high enough gearing for those who haven't got a 140 rpm cadence. and will be very different to his current 1000 watt beast. I'd take a Bosch bike any day, but it won't suit everyone.

Gi Bike - have you got any feedback for the development team?

I would imagine it is very wobbly, the seat doesn't look like it will go high enough, it looks cramped with the seat and bars too close together. the bars are too high, fitting mudguards would be tricky, it doesn't look like it'll have much battery capacity.
