Maximum distance with kid on board?!

I have an Xtracycle, a Burley Piccolo (http://www.burley.com/page_776/piccolo.html) and a tandem. :) Having covered a lot of miles on the Piccolo with my son, who's now 10, I'd thoroughly recommend it. However in a year or so your nine year old will be getting a bit big for it. I used to use...

3 Kalkhoffs for sale on ebay - all without chargers!

Hi Tilson, the change to a 11t sprocket was probably due to the 9t cog causing some drive problems on a few of these exceptionally reliable motors. I put the bike through it's paces today with a nice varied 20 mile ride. This was my first decent ride on a step through and was very pleased to...

3 Kalkhoffs for sale on ebay - all without chargers!

I've been on the lookout for an Agattu step through with an 18ah battery for a while, so I can take one of my kids out with me on longer/hillier rides. Decided to go for this and finally took delivery yesterday. I think the bike is a 2011 model as it has the later gearing of 11t motor...

Lands End to John O Groats - Unsupported

Really enjoyed reading your Blog and glad the journey went so well. LeJog has been on my wish list for a number of years, athough I don't know if I'd have the bottle to go solo like yourself.

    Lidl bicycle bits and bobs

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I've had 2 of these and they've both failed after very little use. After a lot of googleing I bought this pump: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/airwave-blast-track-pump/rp-prod42198 The quality is a lot better (should be at the price). Its also much easier to...

    Replacement Chain

I agree the sway towards 10 speed derailleurs on e-bikes is stupid. My friends 350w Pro-Connect S eats chains compared to my older lower powered 9 speed. I recently had a ride on an old 3 speed Panasonic powered step-through and was very surprised to find that the 3 gears were adequate. Second...

Haibike sDuro Yamaha powered 2015 eBike range revealed!

I'm sure these will go down a storm with the younger riders. Although they look better value than the Bosch powered bikes, there still quite expensive bikes. If the spec of the trekking model had been reduced a bit then it would be good competition for the Kalkhoff Agattu but at £2400 against...

50 Mile round trip commute, feasible or not?

Without the speed of an unrestricted bike, a 25 mile each way commute would be a killer. The only bike I would even attempt it on would be an S-Class. A to B recently tested a Kalkhoff Endeavour and covered 22.7 miles in 64 minutes finally running out of battery at 29.4 miles. This was with the...

    How Much?

It's very similar to the Cytronex bikes around £2000 except even more discrete, as the batteries are hidden in the down tube. If the reliability was sound I reckon they'd sell well around that price. Here's the kit version : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251603342833...

    How Much?

When the Keyde motors first came out I thought they'd be ideal for a relatively lightweight (70 kg) rider like myself, whose only looking for moderate assistance. Since then I've not read anything positive about them and our own D8veh tested one which broke after a few hours hard use. Still...

    Whisper hawk in gourock

I live in the next town, Greenock, where Philips Cycles were originally based. My father bought an electric kit from them around 1980. It was the first sold in the area and even got a wee write up and picture in the local paper. I can remember helping him set it up, The motor had a simple...

    Cytronex Bike for sale

This is a bit misleading. In the first post it is advertised as a SuperSix but the sellers picture in post 8 is definitely the Caad 10

    Cytronex Bike for sale

Nice bike, but it's not a particularly high end model. It's £2295 brand new on the No Hills website so not much of a bargain IMHO.

    E-Bike Vision batteries

Good to hear that these batteries work with the old charger. I've been thinking of buying a bigger battery but had heard that the fast charger was noisy and that put me off it a bit. . I do a bit of cycle camping and usually ask someone with a hook up to charge my battery overnight. Folk...

    The dongle re-visited

The legal 15 mph limit was well understood, even in the early days of the forum. I think it's highly unlikely that you were unaware you were riding an illegal bike.

New kalkhoff impulse endeavor 350 w.

Cheers Alchemist. My ProConnect is a 2008 vintage so has the previous Panasonic drive system with a different battery. Think I'll arrange a test ride in Edinburgh before I make up my mind. Unless any members nearer Greenock could give me a try :)

New kalkhoff impulse endeavor 350 w.

Just wondering how you guys are getting on with your new Endeavors. The large battery and good a to b review has me seriously considering an upgrade.

    Which mini pump?

As Rob said, the hose makes the Lazyne Pump very easy to use and like their other tools. it's very good quality. It's also very compact and fits in my 750ml tool tube which fits a bottle cage. I have several bikes so simply swap between bikes.

    Panasonic motor

Hi Tom, It's good to know that the motor replacement is straightforward. I have always enjoyed the gentler power of my 2008 Pro Connect, but have only tried a more powerful Kalkhoff once and felt it didn't suit my long leisure rides. Would be very interested to hear if you prefer the more...

    Kalkhoff 24AH Battery Charger

I've found a couple of european dealers selling the Kalkhoff (Panasonic) 24AH Batteries for around £500. As I'm thinking of upgrading, does anyone have any experience of these batteries? Also are they compatible with the original chargers? I know that there is a new fast charger for the...
