    Which grease for Tongxin?

Ahh, that'll be the stuff! Thinking back, I remember using it many decades ago when I worked in the shipyards. It came in 5 gallon tins if I remember right.

    Which grease for Tongxin?

"Red Rubber grease" is normally used for when rebuilding Brake Calipers as it's compatible with brake fluid. I've used it before and it's very expensive for a small tub so I'm surprised it's used in that application.

New Kalkhoff for 30-odd quid on EBay. Is this for real?

I think your probably right John. I just remembered that when I arranged for the bike to be picked up, by "Paisley Freight", it was from the sellers workplace which was a large secondhand goods shop selling all sorts of stuff.

New Kalkhoff for 30-odd quid on EBay. Is this for real?

I bought a 2011 Kalkhoff Agattu from the seller about 7 months ago. Before I bid for it I asked if he would be willing to post and he said ok. He was a little slow in sending the bike as he said he had trouble getting his hands on a large box. The bike I bought also had no charger and the...

    Do puncture resistant tires work?

Got to be a Marathon Plus. There a heavy tyre but there's no substitute for the protection that the thick layer of rubber gives.

    Tyre width

I've set up my Marin Bolinas Ridge MTB for road use. I went for these 2.0 wide tires for their light weight. http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/schwalbe-marathon-deluxe-tyre/aid:643283 These tyres are supposed to be nearly as puncture resistant as Marathon Plus but I don't think there's any...

Wondering if an e-bike is for me...

For a cheaper option you could get a second hand Panasonic powered Kalkhoff Pro Connect. The're bullet proof, an excellent ride and can average 20mph in sports version or with a simple cog change. I recently bought one for less than £600 and it's in great condition.

Why I like buying from Wiggle

Yep, my youngest likes me ordering from Wiggle too cos he gets the Haribo. :) Wiggle are excellent but I bought tons of stuff online from most of the big suppliers and always received good service.

    Fast Legal Bike

Wouldn't any good mountain bike or a steel framed touring bike be suitable? Were only talking about 30mph here and these bikes are strongly built to withstand a lot of stress. . If using a hardtail, a fair sized box can be fabricated to fit the frame triangle for a battery, like Dave has done...

    Dynamo...

Finally the temperature has crept up enough to try out my Busch and Muller Cyo Premium 80Lux dynamo light. I also took along my Exposure Strada battery light (600Lumins) for comparison. I headed out of town for a 10mile circuit of completely unlit single track road. I was quite impressed with...

yet another example of how dangerous cycling can be.m

Here's an interesting discussion about this: http://www.pistonheads.com/gAssing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1476321&mid=0&i=0&nmt=Cyclist+vs+Car+%28again%29&mid=0 The first post has a link to the full video.

    Dynamo...

Thanks for the info Davy. I'm definitely going to have a tinker with these lights sometime. My Pro Connect headlight is DC so I might give the Banggood a try, it's a real bargain.

    Dynamo...

I bought a secondhand step through Panasonic Agattu recently and have been upgrading it ready for, hopefully, some better weather. As it was already fitted with hub dynamo I just upgraded the light to a Busch & Muller 80 Lux Cyo, which is pretty close to the top of their range. I'll try it...

Do you think I need a new cassette?

As in the picture I thought my 11t sprocket looked worn out too. On further investigation I discovered the teeth on a new sprocket were not symmetrical either. Apparently there made that way for smoother gear changes. ( I never noticed your mileage and high speed usage in your original...

    Panniers !! (The Best?)

No water after Gascoyne Junction until Cobra Station (drinakable)/Mt Augustus (had to purchase bottle water or get it from a billabong) and no water again for about four or five days afterwards, so both sections required carrying around five days of water give or take a day or two and I left...

    Panniers !! (The Best?)

I've a pair of these as well. Great panniers, very tough and have a large capacity, but a tad heavy. I've also got a pair of Altura 42ltr fuse panniers. Same quality fixings but a lot lighter for weight weenies like myself. :)

CycleCharge: Anyone need e-bike motor, kit or battery?

I'd just like to wish this venture every success. It must have taken a heck of a lot of time and effort from yourself, Lynda and friends. Many Thanks! and I'm sure this will be a big help in the promotion of E Biking

    Dodgy Ebay Listing

Reported. I'm not surprised there trying again. They can make a real killing with these scams. I foolishly got sucked into a Gumtree Ad a few years ago and lost a sizeable amount of money. When you're really interested in an item you can miss telltale signs that seem obvious later. You...

    Dodgy Ebay Listing

This looks a pretty obvious scam to me. I've reported a dodgy bike listing before, but it stayed listed and I was never contacted by ebay.:(
