    Brexit, for once some facts.

I consider myself as a European and look where I was born! My whole education was European with a bit of an English bias (OK, a completely English bias). I tried to like England but the weather got to me so I settled in France. Now I am considering moving to Spain. I will never be French or...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Yes but... most small wheel bikes are very under geared, not designed for high top speeds. So the initial starting off (where the most torque is created) will almost always be easier on the motor even if you are in the wrong gear. It would be interesting to see the break down of failed motors...

New member advice on new ebike please

The motor may work with the 20" wheels. I believe that it can't handle 700C wheels and low cadence.

OG: Because that court only deals with trade matters, not workers rights or consumer protection rights et al. But will the EU buy coal mined by twelve year old Welsh lasses? Or cotton T-Shirts made by people working for peanuts on 18 hour shifts?

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Kalkhoff joke time: The other week a couple of clients came in with his and hers Sahel Compacts. We chatted a bit about pedelecs and he proudly said "We got the ones with the best motors!"... I managed to keep a straight face thinking that his bike dealer was a cheeky chap. In fact I think...

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Lucky him he wasn't in France! Here you need two brakes (even if you have three or four wheels). Nobody around town here rides real fixies they all have a single speed freewheel and (drumroll) a front brake. So unless they have a coaster brake hidden somewhere in the rear wheel, really well...

    Q-Factor Bosch

The web site does suck badly in a beautiful kind of way... I remember SW pointing me to these cranks but then I found the Shimano steps ones at 20€ for bafang et al. Now I am hunting for 160 mm or 165 mm cranks so I may have to swallow hard and cough up 60+ €

At last you are waking up! The whole "We don't want the ECJ" thing made it clear as day to me. The things that bother those people is worker protection, consumer protection, human rights, etc.... They want to go back to the good old 19th century. Same plan as MAGA.

I am in the midst of buying a set of rims and funnily the UK is the major supplier of decent wide BMX rims. Since the last time I looked they have gone down 3€. Think I'll wait another few weeks before ordering...

    Which Kit?

It looks like your bike would accept a mid-motor (standard 68 mm BB?) have you thought about that option? You will need one that offers a correct chainline (beltline :)) https://california-ebike.com/thinking-adding-bafang-mid-drive-belt-drive-bike/

The outcome will always be positive for the well-off whatever you do. It won't work well for people who have one of those fabulous jobs that won't pay the rent and food (choose one from the list) that are helping to keep your employment rate so low. I am employed yet I figure in the French...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

No, they are optional. Special moped mirror (a bike one won't do) and two or three lateral orange reflectors, lights (supernova and b+m make normalised ones) and a horn with 50 + metre range. As well as the usual bike reflectors of course.

The German car industry doesn't need any help getting hurt, they are doing it all by themselves. My first car was German ('55 beetle) since then I have only had Italian, Japanese and French. I think Citroen make the best cars but then I like odd and eccentricity in my cars... Toyota also give...

The Bike That Overcomes The Mistakes Of The G-Tech

Patterson Metropolis Drive, Aerorage rims, Durano E tyres, Magura hydraulic front, 48 V battery, remove speed limit... a couple of tweaks and it would be a killer :)

    Which Kit?

Depends on your version of the software and the sensor, in my first kit 03 wasn't even an active parameter and I used a 12 magnet disk that came with another controller on 8 magnet setting with no difference. Then I bought a K V12 sensor and that only works with 05, 06 and 07 setting.

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

From a speech by the lovely PM: “Leaving the European Union will mean that our laws will be made in Westminster, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast. And those laws will be interpreted by judges not in Luxembourg but in courts across this country.” A little bit of patience I'm sure e-bikes are in...

    Front derailleur adjustment

There are extenders for braise on derailleurs for 78 and 100 mm BBs in many MTB online stores. They are not cheap. I carry a glove in the pannier and swap the chain over by hand when the going gets really steep. Having a front derailleur is something that interests me and I am looking to see if...

The United States of America is as diverse as it comes: several languages, many different cultures and religions all under the same flag. And any idiot who is rich enough and a big enough liar can become president. Um wait a mo, something isn't right...
