    Brexit, for once some facts.

This came to my attention while watching a TV show (on arte) about the UK the other night: Qatar, which is roughly the same size as Yorkshire, has built up its holding in UK property in less than 10 years - although it amassed a vast area when it and Brookfield bought Canary Wharf owner...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

From The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/sep/10/uk-flouting-duty-to-cut-air-pollution-deaths-says-un-human-rights-report A government spokeswoman said Brexit represented an opportunity to improve the UK’s air quality standards. “EU policies, from the common agricultural...

    Pannier recommendation?

I have just ordered my first set of Ortlieb front roller panniers, 69.99€ on special offer at Probikeshop. I had thought of just using and throwing away 9.95€ Decathlon panniers, I broke the first one after a year carrying my heavy 20 Ah battery, but they don't attach well and can bounce off at...

S12S 500W Torque Simulation Sine Wave Controller

Lets say (for fun) I get one of these https://bmsbattery.com/ebike-kit/736-s12sn-72v1kw-40a-torque-simulation-sine-wave-controller-ebike-kit.html and limit my use of current to 10 A (assistance level 3). Chuck an 18 S 72 V LiPo battery behind it and plug the lot into a 36 V 201 rpm Q128C. I...

S12S 500W Torque Simulation Sine Wave Controller

OK thanks. Best to clip them leaving a tail long enough outside for soldering "in case" then.

S12S 500W Torque Simulation Sine Wave Controller

I am going to get one of these, I know it is big but I have the luxury of sufficient space to tuck it away. Quick question: Is there enough room inside to tuck away the unwanted wires (speed sensor, throttle...)?

    Motor resistance?

OK so you have a perception issue... I think that it comes from the bike being harder to launch from a dead stop with the extra weight. Try hypnosis :D "I can pedal to 25 km/h, I can pedal to 25 km/h..." My old bike weighed 20 kg and the current mid-drive one over 25 kg but it no longer...

    Motor resistance?

I have a Mxus and my experience was like yours in the beginning. It takes about 100 km to loosen up and for you to get used to the weight. Don't forget to check spoke tension at about 100 km too. Then: Assistance 1 provides about 60 W and is enough to cancel out the extra weight you have put...

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Pedestrians are always surprised that I stop for them (on pedestrians crossings only of course). If they are walking on the cycle path they get a high speed buzzing if I feel that it is safe enough to scare them off the path that way. Otherwise they get a cart load of verbal abuse - bad...

11 speed shimano chain ring for BBS02

You need a spider so that you can mount whatever standard narrow wide chain ring you need. I got mine from precialps. The other choice is Alligt from the Netherlands who make chain rings for BBS0x https://www.dutchbikebits.com/alligt/alligt-chainrings-60bcd but they only make a 43 then it jumps...

    Post moderne pm-705n

At 60-70 km despite an excellent NCX seat post my backside can't take much more. The seat post has eliminated all back pain however! So I have adopted a deck chair for long rides :)

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

I have just upgraded from a 19th century bike to a 20th century bike (check Wikipedia) and have rediscovered the joy of riding slowly. And the joy of going much faster than on a 19th century bike with much less effort. Slow when on the mixed pedestrian/cycle path if only for the scenery (think...

First thing to check is the disk with the magnets on the crank. Is it slipping? Is it aligned with the sensor?

Fat Bloke - Not cycled for years...

Being tired and sweaty is part of losing weight... When I got into this electric bike lark I lost 4 kg pretty quickly but I was riding the bike like it was stolen so definitely some sweat. Ride leisurely to work but at least try to get home with clothes ready for the washer.

    Braking

A question for our history of cycling experts: When did the law require two brakes, front and rear? Why did someone think that was necessary/a good idea? My personal guess is back in time brakes were so bad that the powers that be decided they were required on both wheels. Since the advent of...

Two hub conversions side by side comparison....
