Help! Replaced the controller and now the hub motor is making an odd noise

Some controllers and some motors work better sensorless than others. The KU63 and KU65 from BMSBattery were always very good, and BMSBattery also sell this one specially for sensorless motors but I haven't tried it...

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

Who told you that it's rare? A little birdie flew in through my window and told me that they nearly all get heart inflamation to a greater or lesser extent, which most recover from and most don't even know that it's happened.

That's all irrelevant. She herself describes her job as "Specialist Disinformation and Social Media Reporter at BBC ". It can't be clearer than that. No need to look at what all the other berks write on Linkedin.

    Carrera Vulcan pedal assist

I'd replace the controller, LCD, cranks with torque sensor with conventional ones. The electrics are about £80. The cranks are up to you. You can still use a conventional pedal sensor with them if you get the right type, but you can save a lot of weight and get a double or triple chainwheel on...

Help! Replaced the controller and now the hub motor is making an odd noise

The controller has self-learning. It makes no difference how you do the connections. The self-learning will figure it all out during the self-learning procedure as long as you do it.

Would wiring three 5W LED lights to the 6V wire on the BBS01b be too much for the controller?

They're not 6v lights. They're LEDs with a driver that runs from 6v to 80v. I thought you said you knew about electronics. Why do you keep encouraging people to burn their money and their stuff? Are you some sort of sadist. Stay out when you don't know what you're talking about. If he connects...

Would wiring three 5W LED lights to the 6V wire on the BBS01b be too much for the controller?

You don't need anything - just wires. The lights already can run off any voltage up to 80v. It's not very efficient to run them off the 6v supply because there are too many conversion losses. Running from the battery, there is only one conversion, and that's inside the light.

Self made pedelec does not work...

The battery is probably OK. It's the controller that blows, and they're dead cheap. Are you sure that the smoke came from the battery and not the controller? Check the battery with a meter to see if there is the correct voltage on the terminals/connector.

Would wiring three 5W LED lights to the 6V wire on the BBS01b be too much for the controller?

Those lights will work direct from the battery. Wouldn't it be easier and safer and more efficient to wire them in there?

    Looking to buy??

A good motor for 25 mph is the Q128 at 48v. The whole kit would be about £700. For 30 mph, you need either a BBSHD, which works out around £1100 for the whole kit or one of those cheapo 1000w direct drive kits with a decent battery at around £800

    Help! Outrider hub motor repair

You'd be much better changing to an Aikema AKM-74X, motor, which you can get from BMSBattery (Q75), Topbikekit or any of our other favourite Chinese resellers. You might as well change your crappy controller to a KT one while you're at it (S06S) so that you can run with the hall sensors. This...

    Carrera Vulcan pedal assist

Yes, I do. It's optical. It has two castellated rings, one attached to the pedals and one to the chainwheel. There are 5 stiff springs between them. They overlap each other do that their slots line up. As they rotate, the sensors can get the speed from the rate of slots passing. The force on the...

Just tried my new 48v. Q13ah battery with yosepower 350w hub moter

You need to look at the settings. There are a few that affect how the throttle and PAS work. Compare those in LCD to LCD4 and make them the same.

Help! Replaced the controller and now the hub motor is making an odd noise

Before using the hall sensors, you have to do two things: 1. Test that they work; 2. Redo the self learning procedure.

E10 error on my new ebike

IF the hall sensors in the motor switch OK, you're good to go with a new controller. If they don't, there are still some options to get you going without having to replace the motor, but we'll sort that when you've confirmed the state of the hall sensors.

    Looking to buy??

Up to 7 speeds is normally freewheel. 9 speeds and above is cassette. 8 speed can be either, especially Carreras. As far as the kit is concerned, it doesn't care what type you had, but the number of speeds does matter. You need a freewheel motor kit for 7 speeds and less, and a cassette motor...

Ebike for steep roads in Brighton and to fit student budget! Advice would be welcome :)

There would be nowhere to put 25kg of groceries - 12kg maybe. With your light weight, just about any ebike should cope with those hills, though the smaller the wheels the better. When you say,"to fit a student budget", what does that mean? When I was a student, some were driving around in deluxe...
