E10 error on my new ebike

The guy that keeps recommending those testers has never actually used one. I told you that it was a waste of money. You have to make cable adapters for most bikes to use the tester. By the time you've done that, you would have had your bike tested and fixed using a normal meter. Those meters...

Help! New here,What conversion kit shall i buy

For £500, you can get a kit which will just about do 20mph on the flat with the wind behind you. Average speed with normal pedalling would be 12 -14 mph., and 8 - 10 mph mph on hills. For £750, you can buy a used 50cc scooter that will do 30 mph and 150 mpg, so running costs are negligible if...

Help! Ebike kit I can carry in airports and charge my Macbook

You're very light, so two of those batteries could work as long as you can find a controller that limits to 10 amps.

Help! Replaced the controller and now the hub motor is making an odd noise

You won't damage the motor, but you can damage the controller because the current jumps up. The problem you're experiencing is when the commutation pulses have incorrect timing. Sensorless controllers have to determine the timing from the back emf. Some controllers are better at it than...

Help! Ebike kit I can carry in airports and charge my Macbook

No, most cheap Chinese ebikes run 36v and 15 amps, and they're not particularly powerful. 36v 10A would put you in the same ball-park as a Cyclamatic, which would work until you come to a hill.

    Torque arms, my first project..

The tab washers don't really do anything, which is why you need torque arms. You do need to file the dropouts to at least get the axle fully in. One other point is that if you don't file deeper, the centre of the axle will be about 3 to 4mm off centre, which might bring the disc out of position...

Help! Ebike KT Controller-LCD3 and Alarm with LOCK function?

Whatever you do, don't forget the password. There's no way back. Also, one guy mis-typed his and wasn't sure what the mistake was, so he was locked out. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. Get yourself a nice bikelock instead or put a secret switch on the red wire to the LCD.

E10 error on my new ebike

The thin red wire is the ignition wire. It should be connected anywhere where it gets the battery voltage, like the main battery connector red. I wasn't thinking before. You don't need a switch because you have one with the LCD. The red wire runs up to the LCD to power it, when on, the LCD...

    I knew I should have patented it. Posts #5 & #9. 2014 - seems like yesterday. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/rocky-mountain-conversion-with-xiongda-kit.17654/

    Torque arms, my first project..

Some people add a bead of weld afterwards, which makes them much better. You have the right idea. When the azle piece is at right angles to the tie-bar you get the best resistance, but the far end of the tie-bar goes backwards and forwards, so the clips are not the best way to hold them...

    5A each = 10A. Would you ride a bike with only 10A?

I have first hand evidence of it. Also, do a hunt for Panodrama. John Sweeney lost his job over that one!

Help! Ebike kit I can carry in airports and charge my Macbook

It's not going to work. You need a decent sized battery to get anything useful for an ebike. That means something relatively heavy, and it wouldn't be allowed on the airline. The Grin Ligo batteries are a potential solution, but you'd need a minimum 3 of them to drive an ebike to get the...

    Motor not engaging? Please Help.

In that case you have no option other than to open the motor to see what's wrong. Three possibilities come to mind in order of probability: 1. The clutch is stuck, probably due to rust, in which case it'll need replacing. There are three rollers in it that roll into wedges to make the drive...

    Hello everyone. Retired teacher her

Reliability isn't really a consideration, except there have been two dogs of the ebike world, not counting bikes from the distant past. One was the Kalkhoff Impulse motor and the other is the Suntour system. Both have fundamental flaws. One other point to consider is that it's not a case of the...

Newbie considering an e-conversion. But what.

Let's make it as clear as I can, as this is about choosing a motor for an ebike conversion. You can use any motor that has a manufacturerss' label or stamping of rated power 250w or lower. They normally leave off the "rated", so it'll just say 250w, but everybody accepts that as the rated power...

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

I heard that Boris has decided not to introduce vaccine passports in the near future. Call me cynical, but I was wondering if it had anything to do with the fact that the Israeli Ministry of Health was caught on a hot mic saying to the Minister of Interior, "there is no medical or...

Newbie considering an e-conversion. But what.

You've just copied what I said. "Rated" was missing from your previous post. "Rated" power is independent of actual power. It just means mustn't burn at that power. A motor capable of and running at 1000w will pass any 250w rating test. Rating is an arbitrary engineering term. Engineers can...

E10 error on my new ebike

You don't provide a link to the listing. I see that your ignition wire (thin red) is not connected. I'm guessing that's intentional. If you put a switch on that wire, you can switch the whole electrical system on and off with it. Any reliable low power switch will do. You won't need a switch on...
