    Getting back on......

That's what I mean by practice... knowing what you can do with the front brake in various conditions. Sometimes not much, but even a short distance of brake on reduces speed and consequences. Especially useful to develop feel on loose surfaces. With even a modestly non-smooth tyre tread, there...

    Getting back on......

Practice, especially brakes and loose surfaces. Maximising front brake is an especially important skill. Practice = training, and training teaches how to recognise and then handle situations. This is far more effective than reacting in the moment. Slowing down before crashing is far more...

    Home made pedelec

Why not a three wheeler tadpole with wide rear stabilisers? They only touch down to prevent rollover.

    Pavement

'Share with care' is quite a common sight on cycle paths signs in Scotland. Do that, and always remember that pedestrians have priority over you, and chances are there won't be too much trouble. And don't ride at 15mph!

Haibike Trekking 10 front support noise

Is it in synch with pedal rotation? If so, likely not internal. I have had synchronous creaks that turned out to be my clothing, especially things in pockets, and rack mounts, and occasional squeaks after rain. They go away. At 300km, use warranty before too much fiddling.

    Disc Sizes

If you pick a brand name and look at their range, you will probably soon understand all you need to know! Start with Hope - the brand, not the sibling of Charity. There are different mount styles, post mount and flat mount the most common. Flat are often front or rear specific, post usually...

    Home made pedelec

Lots of bike wheel hubs with robust axles these days. Read up on mountain bikes and look at manufacturers like Hope to get and idea. Up to 20mm front and at least 15mm rear.

    Tandam CoPilot 26-3

I met a couple on a recumbent tandem trike on one of my trips last year. Much lower seating than the image you gave, and rather long. But they were having a great old time, without much effort, with a Bafang mid drive giving the grunt. She was the eyes, because he had little sight, neither had...

    Home made pedelec

Think about width if you plan to use cycle paths. Width is obviously great for stability, but in various places, anything more than about 750mm can be a problem. I'd be wanting 900mm minimum track, more if high centre of gravity.

Oh, and I forgot to add: do not charge this way unless you are driving, or you will very quickly flatten your car/van battery.

Help! Is an Electric Bike Suitable for Long Mountain Rides?

You must try before you buy, especially if you are tempted to go the hub drive route. Mid-drive can do anything you want it to, just needs a big enough battery and low enough gears. On technical terrain, it has to be torque sensor. Nothing else is sensitive enough.

    Inverter specs

That is not an inverter, unless there is another socket on it. It is just a USB outlet that you can plug in to the cigarette lighter socket. An inverter will have a standard 3 pin plug socket on it. What you want is possible, and not expensive, but before going any further could you post a...

    Carrerer Vengeance Stripped Planetary Gears

How does 3 years and 4000 miles play in the post warranty 'right to expect better' branch of consumer law? My 3 year total with admittedly very different bike was 17,000 miles and no trouble.

Actually no, a really cheap second hand Wild Country Zephyros 2. It is my second, the first cost £53 and lasted 140+ nights before I was careless packing up and broke the pole. The second one I broke the pole after only 30 nights, but two broken poles make a good one plus spare sections easily...

If I was an urban rider, I'd have one. Main issue is the end of season condition of my trusty Guernicar Deflector ©®™! And it being end of rush hour on a Friday. I am having to make do with some appalling camp spots on this trip.
