Specify best conversion outcome for same cost as Argos recent bargains

It is interesting, I'll maybe give hub some more thought. My Ridgeback has 38T chainwheel and 11-51 cassette, and in touring mode on the flat I am usually cruising in 38 to 15. So there may be an acceptable compromise to be found. But out on a trip, so won't be soon. Mirror hitting close shave...

    For Sale Bargains

Only a relative bargain, no price match for a cheap Chinese camera, but GoPro Hero Black 10 down to £229 from £299 at GoPro website. I mean, you can't even get an Argos bike for that...

Specify best conversion outcome for same cost as Argos recent bargains

I've made templates in the past to answer queries here, and the chainstays are almost like the maker wanted to be awkward! Max about 36 or maybe 38 chainwheel. It came as a spare bike needing a home, so no hurry to do something with it. I love your listed building brutal reality!!

Impressed it can be done. Keeps the possible in the minds of readers. I'm slightly disappointed that my lovely orange Voodoo is not suitable for either type of conversion, although I suppose I could put 2x gears on... Meanwhile my Ridgeback just keeps on keeping on, soon to be 29,000km.

Disabled cyclist; with one bad choice behind her, needs help with a new bike

https://forums.electricbikereview.com/threads/mahle-x35-vs-x20-motor-scott-addict-e-ride-20-and-orbea-m20.51271/ Ribble road bikes seem to be Mahle X20 mid motor, which seems to get thumbs up for low drag but thumbs down for rather low torque. See rather hard to read first post in link. Might...

    Green-Hybrid Jason ebike. Opinions please...

How much weight do you plan to carry, and what gradient and continuous length of hills do you need to have the confidence to know you can handle?

    Mid-drive hybrid?

I am of course biased, but if this trip happened in the summer in the home country of SunTrip, it is hard not to recommend a modest amount of solar instead of the massive battery solution! It is a trip with fantastic possibilities. I might have to learn French...

    Green-Hybrid Jason ebike. Opinions please...

No idea, and web page tells us nothing about which motor etc. Big price reduction alone is not reason to buy. Range will be about 30 miles, probably has a 2A charger so 5-6 hours to recharge. The bike is not the end of the story for long trips!

    Mid-drive hybrid?

Worry about range and how you will be charging it first. Pretty much any mid budget bike will do, they are all fairly samey. You almost need to choose which motor you prefer and work from there, and probably factor in a second battery and second charger.

Specify best conversion outcome for same cost as Argos recent bargains

I missed out on both the £245/£285 folders and the £360 non-folder, but I was given a nice Voodoo Bizango and I have an old 26er full suspension MTB available. What is the best setup that budget could buy, including a battery, for shopping/commuting up to 20 miles return, in fairly hilly...

End of season solar trailer tour

I have thought of trailer tent concept to get more space without excess weight. But I really like the connection with outdoors and other travellers that a small tent brings, despite its privations. A couple of recent camp spots, and a non-functioning squirrel.

End of season solar trailer tour

Yes, that was a great adventure, just enough jeopardy to keep it interesting. I'm a few days away from setting off on this year's equivalent trip, hoping that the better weather in the distant part of the forecast comes to pass. I have a bomb proof trailer axle now, using aluminium tube with...

    Bosch motor after 4 years

I have heard many stories of motors not working after being opened due to deliberate engineering 'safeguards', so it has never been opened. My intention is to ride it until it dies and then have a look inside. I heard of one e5000 that was still going at 67,000km/41,000 miles, so may be a while...

    Bosch motor after 4 years

After 3 years and 17,700 miles, my Shimano e5000 is still without any crank play. I have a spare motor which does not need any dealer intervention to fit, and which crop up from time to time on eBay for under £200. I should be ok for a while yet!

Slack in the upper chain run indicates free wheel not as good as it should be.

Review of Argos £245 E-move folder

A whole set of new Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes are £40, and fine for rider+bike+a bit of shopping. You might have to do a bit of hose length surgery.

4th September is publication day for Grenfell final report. Over 200 participants in the enquiry have been notified that they are to be criticised. A big reading day.

    Mapdec trading standards visit

There have been a few wins for regulation over the years: seat belts, drink driving rules, asbestos, smoking restrictions, for example. And lessons from notable disasters: Herald of Free Enterprise, Kings Cross Fire, Ladbroke Grove, Grenfell Tower. The shape of the growth curve in the ebike...

    bafang suddenly cut out today

5 minutes! My Shimano doesn't give me 5 seconds! This starts to sound a likely cause.

    bafang suddenly cut out today

I suspect there may be a not good enough contact(s) in your wiring somewhere, and quite likely between battery and battery mount. It always seems to restart, and run for miles not just metres, so does not sound like a fundamentally broken component. I have had similar issues from time to time...
