Anything out there like Cytronex ? Want to covert and On One Pompetamine

Something to be aware of with more expensive bikes is that you might have trouble fitting the PAS to the bottom bracket as they tend not to have the square spindle exposed as on cheaper BBs. It might be worth getting throttle of some kind with a kit, then at least if you can't immediately...

Is it Torque not Speed what we are really looking for?

Yep I'm aware of the legalities. I'm not actually sure why the road is closed to vehicles, it's just a 'normal' tarmac back road in appearances. Quite a few cars use it as a short cut if the A14 is bad. This is the road, in fact (Longstanton road) I appreciate the issues, but having a bike that...

Is it Torque not Speed what we are really looking for?

True, but I want to shed the petrol dependency. Also, the route I want to take in to work on my bike is closed to motor vehicles, if I had a scooter the alternative is the A14 which I don't want to be anywhere near on two wheels first thing in the morning - too busy, lots of lorries driving too...

    BMS Battery, your eperience?

Absolutely. The worst thing is the frustration of not really knowing where the problem lies and what the next step should be, at least I can get it sorted now. I'm a bit gutted it's going to delay things somewhat, perhaps I'll be lucky and BMSBattery ship it promptly  You guys and...

    BMS Battery, your eperience?

Update on BMSBattery and my battery issue which I'm certain is a duff BMS. I got an extremely quick response from them: If true, it's frustrating that they'd supply an unsuitable BMS given everything was ordered at the same time. I'm wondering if I made a poor choice with the 900W charger...

Is it Torque not Speed what we are really looking for?

It depends on the application. A lot of people want an ebike for measure use in varied geography in which case you'd lean towards torque. I, on the other hand, simply want a quick commuting machine in the flat lands of Cambridge so for me speed is more important. There is no definitive answer...

    BMS Battery, your eperience?

I'm just a few miles Northwest of Cambridge, so a couple of hours from Banbury. I'm not adverse to the idea of throwing everything in my boot and coming down your way one Saturday morning though. I have a bike rack so it's pretty easy for me. Matt.

    BMS Battery, your eperience?

I did wonder if this might be the case. The charger light is green indicating it's fully charged, voltage reading on charger is 58v and amps 0.0, so I'm wondering if the BMS is misreporting the charge level to the charger so it's not actually charging it. Matt.

    BMS Battery, your eperience?

Hey Frank. I didn't get any options regarding the BMS so I'm not sure what is contained within the battery packaging. I'm assuming that's where the problem lies, but I'm not really very knowledgeable about these things. The problem I have is that, when not connected to the controller I get a...

    BMS Battery, your eperience?

Hmmm. Well I've got a duff 48v 16Ah battery off them. Will let you know how getting it sorted goes...

    BPM kit build thread

I've tracked down the problem. Looks like there is a issue with my battery. If I connect the charger, battery and controller in series to force voltage into the system then the control unit and motor all work perfectly. Still getting a massive voltage drop from 48.3 to 5.1 at the power lines...

    BPM kit build thread

Excellent, thank you for the info! Still have one major hurdle though, I still can't seem to get anything working... I've fixed the bad connection by replacing the supplied plugs with a three pin kettle-style. This gives me 48.4 v all the way to the controller. With power connected to the...

    We want a kit

I'm fitting a BMP front motor to my bike which has front/rear hydraulics. I had to change from a 160mm to a 203mm front rotor with a new calliper mounting bracket to give enough clearance (I also wanted more stopping power anyway with the extra weight). The cost was about £25 for the new avid...

    BPM kit build thread

I think I've tracked down the source of my problem: Voltage reading battery-side of the plugs 48.4v. Other side is 18.5v. So, a dodgy connection in one or both of the terminals going into the blue cable. Going to dive out at lunch today and get a straight replacement for them as they're...

That sounds pretty similar to what I'm seeing. The rim itself is substantially off-centre when everything is aligned and spaced for everything to seat nicely, not rub anywhere and break callipers sit over the rotor. I suspect the rim should be spoked to take this into account but it hasn't -...

    BPM kit build thread

Yes the washer does reduce the gap a bit (I'd just got the wheel dropped in there to test clearances for my discs), but what is difficult to see in the picture is that the space recesses into the hub quite significantly. Where the dropout is in the picture is the narrowest it can be before the...

    BPM kit build thread

Finally got some more time to work on the build after a hectic family-orientated Easter. I have the motor mounted. I found a couple of issues; the first was that the drop outs needed a very small amount of filing to allow the axle to drop in. Also, there is a very large space on the disc...

    Radio Debate on Cycling Safety

Anyone who cycles and drives will have witnessed extreme stupidity from both groups. I've even been attacked by another cyclist when I was myself cycling home. He failed to observe a give-way sign as he joined the road from a cycle lane and nearly collided with me, shouted abuse then rammed his...

    BPM kit build thread

So last night I was having a look at how the battery was going to fit. It's pretty big and heavy... the challenge is going to be getting it sitting as far forward on the pannier rack as possible to stop the front end from becoming too light. I also want to ensure that the least amount of stress...

    BPM kit build thread

No offence taken. It's a bit of a journey into the unknown, worst case scenario I buy a second hand mountain bike and switch to rear-wheel drive while keeping the rest of my components. I'm taking the view that this is a long-term project to get involved in as much as anything so I'm comfortable...
