BMS Battery, your eperience?

This week I was looking on the 48V 10Ah shrink tube li-ion battery on this site.. The Specs looked really tempting but I decided against it because of the lack of on/off swich and lockable case.

While searching though I was advised by Frank to check the dimensions and weight with them.. I mailed them and confirmed that the description was accurate.

Browsing again at their site for the 48V 10ah alloy shell li-ion after Alby's note ( I should give him credit at this point because he demonstrated great proffesionalism trying to find a solution for me instead of let me wait until the product he is selling is available again) I found out that indeed there is a problem with the dimensions of their products!!!

Hi again! First of all sorry for all this questions, but I am planning on doing a lot of projects and I want to make sure I pick the right product.

It must be something wrong with the weights and dimensions of the batteries on the site:
Here are some examples of weird specs:
1) This product: 48V10Ah Li-Ion Shrink Tube EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY Has the exact same cells as this one 48V 10Ah Li-Ion Alloy Shell EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY although the second one is 2,7 kg heavier!!! There is no way the allow shell and lock to be 2,7kg!

2) This product: 48V 15Ah Li-Ion Alloy Shell EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY has 50% more cells than this one: 48V 15Ah Li-Ion Alloy Shell EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY and yet it is only 0,5kg more than the second! This is imposible as also it is impossible to have the same dimensions. In general all the alloy cells have the same dimensions! (is it possible that you have only one size alloy case to fit all the batteries, if this is the case it is shame because you loose the compactness potential but is understandable)

So I am interested on the exact specifications for this product: 48V 10Ah Li-Ion Alloy Shell EBike Battery Pack - BMSBATTERY

Hi

The 48 volt 10AH Ally shell battery weight is 4.25 kilos we buy from the same company that make there battery's

You Note they now fit 20 Amp continues rated packs we had them change it from 10A

They only buy and sell but they do deliver Bit long but Cheap £ 240

Pay by paypal then your money is safe

In china they work for £1 per hour so the mark ups are tiny BUT so is the support

We sell our similar Battery's with charger and UK support for £450 ( we don't sell separate only with our kits )

Our battery's are modified in the UK to Plug into our controllers and work reliably and we offer a 12 month warranty as we have a workshop and spares to repair even 3 years down the road ( so not Like for Like )


I would recommend the 15 AH 50% more range 6 kilos £300

our price £650 ( not sold separate only with our kits )

If you are on a Budget GO for it They will Deliver 4 to 6 weeks

The 4,25kg is passable... I was hopping for a black cover but I might take a look.. This means that this product has no warranty ?

I saw that they have them in stock with 5-7 days delivery time, what makes you think it will take that long?

Ps: please, can a mod add an x to the title?

Several people here have ordered stuff from them and it always seems to take 4 to six weeks. Their weights and sizes for their batteries always seem to be wrong - the same as some of the other Chinese suppliers. It's a mystery why. It'll be difficult to send anything back for a refund because of the huge shipping costs. If weight is an issue, why do you need a 48v battery? Lipos are much lighter and more powerful, but you need to know how to handle them.

Hi

48 Volt 10 AH should Be Fine on a folder so would a 10 AH 36 volt only 3.5 kilos

It Has a warranty but sending back to China is not Cheap and they charge to return it

Other Members have reported 4 to 6 weeks delivery

You could easily spray the aluminum case black with a spray can

Any comments from members on delivery Times ????????????

Hi It means if you try and take 20 amps it will shut the battery down and you will have to disconnected:cool: the battery to reset the BMS

well because power and range are An objective as well..

I thought that lipo cells were stable now, or at least that is what I ve been told..?

The quality of some manufacturers are way better now than the used to be a few years back, so they stay in balance well and are less likely to ignite for no apparent reason. However, abuse them in use or damage them physically and they can still produce fireworks.

My 10Ah 24V (7s2p) battery arrived in 11 days, no extra duty requested and the weight was just 20g under the advertised weight of 1.7kg.

Hmmm. Well I've got a duff 48v 16Ah battery off them. Will let you know how getting it sorted goes...

I got a reply from them thanking me for quoting the mistakes on their site and it seems they corrected them.. He corrected the battery in question for sure, rating it to 4kg which makes sence comparing it with the 6kg for the 15ah one and with the 4,25 frank said.

I might go for it if alby agrees...

also, is Li-Ion NiCoMn a lithium polymer battery?

Hey Frank.

I didn't get any options regarding the BMS so I'm not sure what is contained within the battery packaging. I'm assuming that's where the problem lies, but I'm not really very knowledgeable about these things.

The problem I have is that, when not connected to the controller I get a 48.3v reading at the terminals.
As soon as the controller is connected this drops to 5.1 volts.

I have verified that the controller wiring is correct, and that it and the motor works essentially by powering it directly from the charger (with the battery in sequence).

I might ask on endlessSphere, but I suspect the advice will involve tearing the pack apart which I'm not willing to do as it was $400 and I don't know what I'm doing.

If your battery is reading 48 volts it is flat

It should read 52 to 54 volts when charged

what lights do you get on the charger

I did wonder if this might be the case. The charger light is green indicating it's fully charged, voltage reading on charger is 58v and amps 0.0, so I'm wondering if the BMS is misreporting the charge level to the charger so it's not actually charging it.

could be faulty charger :confused:

Approx where are you I can test and Carry spare bms in stock

I'm just a few miles Northwest of Cambridge, so a couple of hours from Banbury. I'm not adverse to the idea of throwing everything in my boot and coming down your way one Saturday morning though. I have a bike rack so it's pretty easy for me.

I used the cheapest delivery option and yes, these are lithium polymer cells.
