I thought you could share your musings on how things are going, surely?
I think EU are realising a deal has to be done for a number of reasons
Firstly the bean counters are starting to realise massive financial harm will be done to all of Europe without a good deal for both sides.
Secondly with Russia and China showing their strength a united Europe (not EU) is more important.
Thirdly without a good deal Italy Germany and France will go over EU and strike individual deals..
All sort of like Peter Lansdown said around 2 years ago.
I, ve just returned from 7 weeks in Spain/Northern France. General feeling amongst nationals.. Not impressed with EU and generally more support for UK. Many saying we are doing right thing, which is different to last year. Expats worried about pensions but cost of living still less than here.
So actually things are fine. (Interestingly many EU restoration projects around Carcassonne have been put on hold. Always thought we (UK) should own half the now beautifully renovated villages around Figeac. Oh and our local Mayor is out of prison for fraudulent behaviour around building land/permission. His replacement has just sent me a compulsory purchase oder on a piece of land attached to a house we had almost sold. (sale has had to fall through, change in contract) My French solicitor assures me his behaviour is illegal but charged 900 euros for a letter, which mayor will ignore.
So, yes just more evidence of EU corruption. (OK French) Perhaps I should write to my MEP, quickly.
