zlatan, how many people got killed and maimed by the Syrian civil war? and how many got killed and maimed by chemical weapons? and what chemical weapons are they?
Most incidents involving chemical weapons are by chlorine. Under the convention that the Syrian government signed up to, they did not have to destroy chlorine stocks because chlorine is not a banned chemical weapon. When Sarin was used, not enough quantity was used or left trace for UN people to pin that to Mr Assad, so it could be from any of the factions fighting over there. Assad has no special reason to use anything more than choking agents to force his enemies out into fresh air where they can be shot at by his helicopters, chlorine does just that.
That may well all ve true but what on earth has it to do with my previous post ?

The Russians think that the British embed their agents within NGOs and the white helmets. I think there is enough support for their accusations. If they did do the Salisbury's job then why not pin something on them (or their associates) for a change?
Their support on TV comes from a guy who was indeed in the room at Douma General Hospital when the whole thing was filmed.
Mrs TM was also very careful with her words. She did not say 'banned chemical weapons', just 'chemical weapons'. The latter could mean anything from table salt to lemon juice.
There seems to be some quite anti stories around about the White helmets likg this
"
James Le Mesurier: The Former British Mercenary Who Founded The White Helmets

James Le Mesurier, a British ex-mercenary, founded the White Helmets in 2013. The group has been lauded for its “humanitarian” efforts in Syria, but they have actually functioned more as a logistics and propaganda arm of Syria’s al-Qaeda branch, complete with training from Le Mesurier.

From Wiki.
"The organisation has been the target of a disinformation campaign by supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Iranian and Russia-sponsored media organisations such as Russia Today (RT) and Iranian news agency MNA, with unproven claims of close ties with terrorist activities.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]"

Just who do we believe on anything ?

Our own proven liars or others proven liars ? Think I trust ours just slightly more ?

believe what you want.
I only said their accusations had some support because an eye witness was in the room and on the clip shown on the BBC, a kid got his eyes squirted with something by a medic while his clothes were still dry. Would he be hosed down after that? who knows. The eye witness said on TV, none in that group was treated for poisoning. I had no reason not to believe his account.

That's hardly evidence Woosh and I do not believe what I want. I believe the information which serms more credible, reasonable and explicable. Having UK agents posing or working as humanitarian helpers is rather low, even for us. For Syria/ Russia / Iran to claim so is sort of par for course.
I believe its utter rubbish. You believe what you want.
It does seem there is an ethos to disbelieve anything from our government; perhaps that's an indication of the success of Putin's disinformation.

we have agents working abroad, that's hardly a secret.
How do you think they'd go to work?

No, apparently they wear white helmets and help kids after been gassed.
Like I said, we are being manipulated, some more than others.
The issue has nothing to do with wether we have agents abroad. Its simply do we have agents posing as " White helmets" who are inventing scenarios around the use of banned chemical weapons. You seem to think so, I think not...
Just ask the question who benefits most if " White helmets" are discredited ?
We hardly benefit at all if they are believed. ( apart from your spurious reasons offered earlier).

Why trust ours more? Immediately after this supposed gas attack in Syria the first UK release said it was chlorine mixed with a nerve gas agent, clearly trying to implicate Russia. But then they backed down once they knew inspectors were going in to check, revising it to chlorine only.

There is clear evidence that Syria has chlorine and has used it previously, that not being illegal as Woosh has pointed out. But this time the accusation has all the hallmarks of it being faked, all part of the ongoing Western campaign against Russia and anyone connected with them.

How can it be vice versa when it was the UK who issued a dud story and then had to amend it? That only had one guilty party.

It's a UK bad habit, Theresa May saying Salisbury was a Novichoc before Porton Down had been asked to identify it, the false releases after Litvinenko was poisoned, then amended for the inquiry years later, this fake news about the mixing chlorine with nerve gas in Syria.

Until the West stops this idiotic sustained propaganda attack on Russia and it's allies, I'm not going to believe a word on the subject from Western sources. They've lied to us too many times over the years, illegally overthrown too many regimes, for me to believe they are any better than the Russians in this respect.

like TM, he did not say 'banned chemical weapons', just 'chemical weapons'.
I think our BBC should have explained the difference for completeness when reporting that news.

The world might not need them, but Russia certainly needs Putin. Remember who the USA put into that post, the drunken idiot Yeltsin who brought the country to its knees.

Remember again that Putin years ago expressed interest in joining the EU and NATO, but the West preferred an enemy. We are only where we are because of Western stupidity.

I'd say we are where we are because we are obsessed with protecting our defense industry.

That too of course. Russia as partners in the EU and NATO would have been very bad news for the defence industry, not just ours but the huge US and French ones too.
