    Continuing disappointment in Scott

So the dealer is out of options - yet another example of a dealer palming a customer off onto a supplier who doesn't deal direct with the public. In your last thread OnBike were keen to rebuke me when I pointed out they had, at the very least, been made to look stupid by Scott. Seems to me...

Is the ebike market moving upwards?

Pleased to hear it, shows you know what your are doing. A good retailer can have an impact locally. There are lots of Gazelle bikes around York, all from Cycle Heaven, even though there are several other good bike shops in the city.

Is the ebike market moving upwards?

There's no doubt there are more ebikes about than a few years ago. But from my inevitably limited observations, the proportion of quality crank drive bikes on the road has increased even more. During a recent trip to the Lake District I saw six or seven ebikes, all but one was a crank drive...

50 Miles on the non electric bike tonite

Much as I like ebiking, riding one cannot compare with the pure pleasure of riding a lightweight bicycle in easy conditions.

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

Given that Bosch produced their millionth motor a couple of years ago, and production has almost certainly increased since then, failure rates are probably the lowest of any of the crank drive motors. In my limited experience, Shimano has always been pretty good at fixing things when they do go...

    Bosch battery

Some bikes for ladies have slightly different geometry, usually a shorter top tube. There's not much in it, and some men might find the ladies' version more comfortable if they tried it. From what I can gather, the notion a step through bike is for ladies is an almost uniquely British one. On...

Kudos Safari Electric Bikes,£995.00 for 2.

Five hundred a pop? Means you are only making £300 on each one, rather than seven. Not that I begrudge your children a piece of sirloin now and again.

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

So the maker says there are 'no issues' - where have we heard that before? As ever, the first response is to deny a problem exists. Shimano now seem to be saying the problem that didn't exist has been sorted by upgrades to later models. Once again, we've heard that before. All this...

    Bosch battery

The Bosch 400 is 11ah, and the 500 is just over 13ah. Kalkhoff/Impulse is about the only quality crank drive system that comes with a big capacity battery. Problem, as you probably know, is the Impulse system is fine when it works, but too many seem to still suffer from reliability problems...

Two new Woosh bikes are on the way

Smart Sams are designed for the job, the Plus will be a bit tougher so you can't go wrong there. I would stop selling/recommending the Kenda Kniption you've mentioned a few times. Once again, it's a BMX tyre, Kenda say it's for 'urban assault and skate park' use. It is 26", so we are not...

Two new Woosh bikes are on the way

Er, that's a 20" tyre so will be a bit of a tight fit. More seriously, it's a BMX tyre designed for a bike used by a child - hence the site also sells toys. I wouldn't put that tyre on a 20" adult bike.

sahel compact impulse 8 or winora radius

Buying an Impulse bike is still a leap of faith. I also prefer the design of the Radius and the Katu - my push bike is a Katu. The basket is large, in particular wide, which can make the bike feel a bit clumsy in traffic. Although it also acts as a good sighter, if the basket can get through...

Folding electric bike for under 1000?

There is no better folding bike than a Brompton, so it seems daft to replace it with what would be a cheap Chinese folder with a motor. In your case, a conversion makes sense. The Nano kit is very well thought out, although not cheap at about £800. The bits could be bought piecemeal for less...

    Which folding commuter bike

Why? Couldn't resist that. Presumably, you told the OP a small-wheeled bike would struggle for his application because you believe that to be true, not because you have no stock of them. Something to do with the controller, and possibly one or two other things. David from Wisper will give...

    Which folding commuter bike

A 20" wheel bike on balloon tyres is a very capable machine, more than able to do 10 miles each way. This Wisper is about as good as you will get for around £1,000. https://wisperbikes.com/e-bikes/806-se-folding-bike/

28mph / 45kph pedelec with good range for commuting.

Ten per cent every year? Some dodgy arithmetic there. I had a 400wh Bosch battery in 2011, or possibly 2012. Five/six years on my 500wh battery is, of course, larger capacity, but its size and weight is the same, if not more. By your thinking, we should now routinely have 700+wh batteries...

28mph / 45kph pedelec with good range for commuting.

What you say may happen, but history is very strongly against it. The widespread adoption of lithium batteries from about 10 years ago was a step forward. But since then there has been very little development. A Bosch bike from 2010 performs - and weighs - all but the same as one of next...

Looking to upgrade 2 Kalkhoff Agattu with 18Ah Batteries

Battery range seems to be your main question. In that respect, things have not moved on since you bought your Kalkhoffs. To get 50/60miles on medium assist in give and take conditions, you will need more than the 500wh batteries supplied with most bikes. Bosch offer a twin battery system...

E- Brompton Coming Soon - Reminder

Some details in the link below. Looks very routine, 250w brushless front hub motor with the battery in a Brommie bag. Weight seems to be about 17kg, which is about the same as the existing kits. Price is £2,495, about £1,500 more than a standard Brompton. Way too dear for what is essentially...

Carrera vulcan or crossfire electric bike?

Having Halfords three miles away could be handy. Bear in mind most branches are clueless about ebikes, so if yours goes wrong they will have to 'send it away' to be fixed. Could be a nuisance if you mind being without the bike for days - or weeks - at a time.
