**SOLD *** Riese & Müller Charger Touring HS (very fast)

If ever there was a bike that would reliably do a fast commute, week in, week out, the R&M Charger is it.

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

Recommending a bike that needs to be kept dry to a commuter doesn't sound like good advice to me. The lad's going to be cycling to work in Epsom, not Ethiopia. Bosch describe their system as 'splash proof', which I take to mean it can be ridden in heavy rain, at least for short periods. I've...

    Help with mud please

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

Fair to point out most bikes - even those costing several thousand - will creak and rattle a bit now and again. I'm not overly keen on the motor noise from my Bosch bikes, so I can see the attraction of the er, whisper quiet motor on Wisper bikes.

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

Fair enough, so that also rules out woosh and many other direct sellers because quality wise they are all similar. Wisper is worth a look, still Chinese, but arguably a bit better quality and the bikes are available from dealers. I tried a Wisper Torque recently and was quite impressed, nice...

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

Buying from a nearby dealer has its advantages. The manager of my local bike shop prioritises work for customers who need their bike to get to work, and can always put his hand on a second hand bike to use as loaner. All provided the customer passes the attitude test, which happily most do...

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

If you are considering budget Chinese, Kudos is also worth a look. They have several models which are reasonably well kitted out for commuting. Dave, who owns the business, is a member on here. Kudos isn't far from you in Kent, and they have a good reputation for service. Commuting is the...

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

On a minor point, the Winora has a plastic sleeve which covers three sides of the chain. A good idea for a commuter in terms of rider cleanliness and reduced chain maintenance.

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

Size aside, a commuting bike would normally have mudguards, a rack to carry stuff and lights. The Winora has none of those, but could have relatively cheaply. It may be son doesn't need to carry much luggage so could use a rucksack, a clip-on handlebar bag or fit a rear carrier if more...

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

A bike you could consider is the one-size Winora Radius, currently on offer at £1,595 from 50 Cycles. It has a compact 20" wheel frame designed to appeal to a wide range of riders. All that really matters in bike sizing is the three points of contact, saddle, pedals and handlebars. If you can...

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

At 6ft 2" the lad will only require a standard large frame, not something unusually big. On eof the advantages of more expensive ebikes is they often come in different frame sizes. If you can stretch the budget a bit, you might be able to get something like a Cube Bosch powered bike in a large...

Battery upgrade for Cycloctricty Stealth 1000w

You might like to take a look at the Bosch range cockpit which will give you an idea of how speed kills range. Pick the Performance Line Speed motor, turbo assist, and the 400 battery - nearest to yours - and have a tinker. https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/service/range-cockpit/

Battery upgrade for Cycloctricty Stealth 1000w

Power consumption seems very high to me. I wonder if the battery is holding anything like 12ah. It's unlikely to have lost capacity already, so the quoted figure may be ambitious, or the pack has been faulty from day one.

    Ebike vs Road bike

I think there was two bars left on the second one. The route undulates, but could not be described as hilly. Biggest climb is Ditchling Beacon, which the roadies make a bit of a fuss about, but it's not steep. A couple of ramps at 15-16% and it goes on for a bit. We copped some headwind...

    Ebike vs Road bike

I rode my dongled Bosch bike with a group of hard core roadies from London to Brighton. We averaged best part of 17mph for the 50-odd miles, not bad given we were riding fast but responsibly. I couldn't have gone much faster and they told me the same applied to them. Without the dongle I...

Unbelievably bad experience with a Haibike SDURO Trekking S RX

Mmm, that's a hard one, try: Believe it or not, this jerk still has some sympathy with your predicament. But your poor attitude will have contributed a great deal to the length of time this is taking to sort out.
