orbea shimano steps 6010 specs/info please

Some of the earlier Steps crank motors had three power levels. Steps has possibly a bit less outright grunt than a Bosch Active, although the ride is similar. Given that I rarely use turbo on my Bosch motors, a Steps would suit me well enough. A rider wanting high assist a lot might be better...

Nano electric conversion kit on Brompton

Worth pointing out the complaint was made two years ago, Stella 21 joined to make it, and has not posted or been back since. My Brompton Nano, which I sold a couple of years ago, is still giving good commuting service to the lady solicitor who bought it. Word did reach me the throttle packed...

    Volt range of e-bikes.

For what it's worth, the Volt hub bikes have always looked dear to me for what is a fairly standard Chinese import. If you root around, you will find near identical bikes with the same display badged differently for a lot less. The battery behind the seatpost design of the Pulse is now quite...

New member advice on new ebike please

You will struggle to get 50+ miles from a single battery, unless you can manage on the lowest setting or do some miles unassisted. I would be inclined to buy a Bosch crank drive bike with the thought in the back of my mind of a second battery later. This shop in Durham City has improved its...

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

The display on my Rose started to act up a bit just before I sold it. That explains why. Thanks.

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

That's the benefit of such a slogan, not a problem. David said the bike had been designed by his new employee, so it's perfectly fair to say the bike is 'designed in the UK', even if the components are sourced from various countries and the bike is assembled abroad. Nothing to stop you using...

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

Another option is to use the Union flag with the legend 'Designed in the UK'. Some other brands do that.

    Wisper eMTB sneak preview

What's that I see on the rear of the seat post - a Union Jack? Members with long memories will recall a heated discussion on here following the last time Wisper put the flag on one of their Chinese bikes. I think David Miall is a very naughty boy for doing it again.

    Oxygen Scross MTB ongoing review

The 650b Ice Spiker comes in Liteskin and Raceguard flavours. Not much in it performance wise, although Raceguard has a bit more puncture protection. It may not always be clear from retailer links which tyre is being offered for sale. The tyres will fit on the wheel, but there may be some...

    Next MTB after KTM Macina

If you have plenty of money to spend a carbon full-sus bike would give you the greatest weight saving. Haibike springs to mind as one maker, although there may be others. A carbon hardtail would be even lighter, and might not crash over bumps in quite the same way a heavier aluminium bike would.

    2017 KTM Fogo 271

Upside down forks are the work of the devil, according to the mountain biking manager of my local bike shop. I predict Eddie will quickly lose patience with the extra maintenance and seal changing and fit a Rockshox fork.

    Bimoz

Mounting a direct drive motor directly onto the existing crank as a retrofit is unusual. In that respect there is some new design and thinking. The bicycle business is notoriously grumpy about anything new - see woosh above - so this new motor faces enormous resistance no matter whether it's...

    Advice for a Bike

Your proposed journey is short and not arduous so any ebike would do the job. I'm not a big fan of cheap Chinese ebikes, many have niggly electrical problems as a glance through this forum will show you. But budget Chinese is all you will get for £1,000. Don't Halfords have any ebikes for...

Chain 10 gear shiano for KTM Lycon

Eddie is a reluctant expert on Bosch eMTB chain suck, so his diagnosis is almost bound to be correct. Bit of a nuisance, but the front sprockets are cheap and easy enough to change.

Anybody had dealings with V12 finance?

You might be right about 'unemployed', as I say credit scoring is not an exact science. It would still be worth applying for an interest free credit card, you have nothing to lose, and the card provider may view your case differently. They might offer you a card, but with a low limit which...

Anybody had dealings with V12 finance?

If your credit rating is good, you should be able to get a credit card which has an interest free period for purchases. This means you can negotiate a 'cash' discount from the retailer, and you are not tied to any more than the minimum monthly payment, although you will need to pay more if you...

Are dual mode ebikes road legal in the UK?

You already have your answer but it's not the one you want to hear, so you keep on asking the question. The bike is illegal for use anywhere the public has access, no matter what switches are pulled. The retailer will tell you otherwise, but Mandy Rice-Davies famously gave you the answer to...

Kudos Safari Electric Bikes,£995.00 for 2.

Not such a bad deal for the customer as well. I always liked the thinking behind your Safari bike. Makes a lot of sense for town/shortish journeys where some load lugging might be required.
