Just completed a 50 mile ride on my non electric bike tonite. What i noticed immediately is on the flat not much difference, downhill not much difference, but the hills !!!!!. If the hills are gentle and even long, it is not so bad you just get into a groove, but when they are steep, the electric bike just kills them, instead of the hill killing my legs !!! feels so slow going up them in relation to electric bike

I enjoy it though, very satisfying. Cycling the non electric bike from the UK down to Barcelona next June and over the Col Du Tourmalet, so need to get fit

By the time you're at the bottom of the Tourmalet, if you haven't developed 'Match fitness' by then something wrong

Much as I like ebiking, riding one cannot compare with the pure pleasure of riding a lightweight bicycle in easy conditions.

Yup! Yer right there, there is something akin to Zen Buddhism about it, I have been riding my 20 yr old Reynolds 531 tour bike a lot recently, on a route on might know well ,it's a bit like flying a fighter plane ( well for me it is! ), The senses are highted, if you can ride fixed, which I use to do.
I am weaning my self of the electro juice, getting back to my analogue biking days, Pedelecs have improved my fitness.

A word of advice from an ex Roady, to improve your fitness, all you need to do is when out riding is select a lower gesr and spin your pedals, keep a high cadence going ,this improves your suppleness.
As you get fitter ,you can then use a higher ratio, but is best to keep spinning aim for around 80 to 90 rpm, you don't want to be feeling your pushing a high gear, suppleness and cadence will give you an edge in the scheme of things

I agree with all the above comments, having just built an analog bike:) (I couldn't find the bike I wanted in any store) the Bosch/cube hasn't turned a wheel for 3 weeks :(
Saying that, I couldn't undertake a big journey (20miles +)unassisted due to my arthritis and the number of hills in my area.
My new build for local trips

Rob That sums up my feelings completely. Absolutely love the E Bike but also in a very different way the ordinary bike as well.
