    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

Because they were in trouble, these bikes could have been supplied on sale or return. Or not.

chain catching on front chain ring

I,ve been in enough mud to stop me pedaling but the only time I have had chain suck is when the front sprocket has been worn. Although I know others on here have had the problem caused by mud. If, as you say, your chain is rattling you could make sure that the clutch in the rear mech is on ( if...

UK Law in regards to ebikes.

Hello Wicky, I assume that you were replying to me. Andy-Mat seemed to think that there was no use for an S-pedalec unless it was on private land, of which there was very little. I was pointing out that there were other options away from traffic which may attract an unregulated but registered...

UK Law in regards to ebikes.

I am sure you are correct, but for me that would be a disaster, as I ride where normal bike How many people have enough private land to make that worthwhile with a registered faster e-bike, Prince Charles maybe? Then the road tax and insurance are moot! But I was not disputing your post in an...

I use a cheap phone holder of the clamp type for my iPhone 6 then if it rains heavily I put it in a small zip lock bag in the clamp.

You have instilled me with confidence in our legal system. :)

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

Perhaps then the punishment is inversely proportional to the barrister’s fee.

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

I’m disputing what you say but the two centre paragraphs seem to be at odds. If the cycle was illegal but was not being ridden recklessly or above the assisted speed limit and the pedestrian was totally at fault then wouldn’t the legality of the cycle become a separate issue to the accident...

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

Who mentioned 30mph+ and I regularly follow cyclists at 25 - 30mph on a slight downhill from my village. To them all roads are a playground.

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

What a load of rubbish and an arrogant thing to say. Thousands of cyclists use a dongle and you don't have a clue as to their riding ability or style. Wow, what a mindset. And then you go on to talk about "being tarred with the same brush"

Are handlebar gear changers back to front

Fair enough, I understand the workings but personally I've only ever wanted to move one or two gears with my thumb shifters to keep a suitable cadence. If I was to move 10 or 11 gears, which I have, I would be totally confused as to where I was on the cassette. Added to that, on some of the off...

Are handlebar gear changers back to front

Just thought that backwards and forwards may count as two actions. My maths :)

Are handlebar gear changers back to front

Surely you have to twist in opposite directions (two actions) to go up or down. also, do you have to look down at revolving numbers or count clicks to see which gear you are in?

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

Looking at that video, which is all that a court can do, the cyclist was well out into the road and the woman had to run to throw herself under him. Makes me wonder if someone threw himself of a motorway bridge onto my car if I would be blamed.

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

Interesting, I didn't realise this. I suppose that it is going to be very subjective (if that's the right word) in court as to what is a dangerous speed. I wonder if judges always thing that the fastest party is always to blame.

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

Kingsland road is the A10. It is a busy shopping road and sections have a speed limit of 20mph.

    broken saddle

You mentioned that it was a screw that had sheared, surely another screw costing £1 - £2 at the most would be cheaper than the petrol to take the thing back.

    EX-1 Cassette on Ebay....opinions please??

No problem. I just thought about the looking a gift horse in the mouth thing. I've been a lot happier with the Shimano stuff. As well as problems with the silly gear spacing on the Sram I also had problems with the Guide brakes loosing pressure. I found out that some early ones had a non return...

    Disregarding UK pedelec laws

Exactly, post 207 was in reply to previous sarcastic remarks and flame shooting. I rest my case.
