Mid Drive for off trail and Hub Motor for flat commutes, true or false?

Isn’t riding a hub motor bike without the means to pedal assist illegal?

    The end of the Pedelec!

I’m like you with the exercise bit but some people who can’t or don’t want to exercise want or need to get their bikes on public transport.

How to become as punctureproof as possible.

Putting them on becomes more of a pain in the middle of nowhere when it’s raining.

    Question about regen braking

The thread you pointed to was started in 2008 and it seems that things have moved on a bit since then. Reading the latest posts the figures look more like 15% and this is for a speed Pedelec with figures for a 25kph bike looking to be better than this. Not sure if the problem of overcharging...

How to become as punctureproof as possible.

I agree that the Marathon Plus is a good tyre but it is not fool proof. It's not a case of how hard you ride your bike it's a case of where you ride your bike. I've had loads of punctures with the MP's including with slime tubes and most of them have been on canal paths and at the side of...

Need help with my e bike

I think the op could be winding us up so tightly we could be good for 50 mile or more.

Need help with my e bike

No, whilst you hold the wheel off the ground and turn the throttle get someone to apply the break gently to put pressure on the wheel without stopping it turning.

Guy on Facebook said Police took a ride on his bike ?

I know that, I made no mention of an illegal bike, just that doing 30mph (or it appears even above) is not grounds for police to stop someone.

Guy on Facebook said Police took a ride on his bike ?

Just as a matter of interest, do electric cycles with a throttle have to cut off the assistance when the bike reaches 15mph? If so then is connection to a speedometer compulsory. That aside, the police would have no grounds to pull him over for speeding so long as he was within the speed limit...

    Snapped derailleur hanger

I have no experience with this particular hanger but with hangers in general I've had two or three break over the years, two from getting a knock on the derailleur and one from me trying to straighten a bent hanger. Hangers are designed to snap rather than the derailleur getting damaged. I...

    Help! Bike servicing

My partner had a Bosch CX motor replaced under warrantee after 18 months. The bike had never been in for a service as I do all my servicing. I don't think that they can service the motor anyhow.

    mtbe mode

As it is sensing the torque, in EMTB mode you have to put more in to get more out, if that makes sense. The shop where I bought my bike reversed the mode for free, as they do for updates. I suppose any other shop sees you as a paying customer, or in some cases, a mug. This is one of the benefits...

    New Bosch motors

I'm sure that any model can be ridden with the motor turned off. I ride my Cube with CX about 15 - 20% of the time with the motor switched off. It's like riding my normal MTB with a 10kg pannier on it.

What does this sound mean on my brake?

There are a lot of assumptions on here. You didn’t say whether the noise happened only when you applied the brake or continuously. I sometimes get loud squeals from the brakes when they get wet. Some pads are worse than others. As it’s a new bike it could just be a coating on the rotor.

    Cycle tracks

The last time I did this, about two years ago, it was a flat cinder track full of families with kids on all sorts of bikes. If I remember correctly most of it was about 10ft wide and surface dressed. I used it twice as a return from Scarborough after doing a North Yorks moors loop. Now, the...

    Voodoo Bizango help

If I were you I would ignore the range altogether. I had forgotten that this was on the display. Just go for a 35 mile ride over as many hills as you can and keep an eye on the LED's. This will give you a datum for future rides. I know that I can ride 35 miles anywhere in the Peak District and...

Risk of getting your bike stolen in London?

Well us poor sods north of Watford Gap can't afford to buy flat caps and mufflers let alone proper bikes. I'd have to sell 10 ferrets to get a cheap bike. Seriously though, the risk of theft stops me using my bike for lots of local trips to the supermarket etc. Cycling organisations advocate...

I’ve done the Rhône from Geneva but did it with Eurobike who organised the bikes, accommodation and luggage transfer. They also do a Rhine trip.
