    Brexit, for once some facts.

No , I dont think we have. You might have seen plenty of investment in London , the Shard etc etc but what has happened anywhere else to stimulate growth and competiveness. Nothing. We don't even try to compete with anything...The whole country needs investment in Infrastructure ( our roads are...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I said myself severe changes need implementing to make trickle down work, lets face it , it should not be trickle...more pour. Using the 70's as an example is rather short sighted...it was not a good decade economically. We are taxed enough. Lets just make sure we all pay what we should and...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Yes, you might be right but the fact is at the moment raising tax does not necessarily increase tax revenue for all reasons mentioned. It is simply not as simple as left assume. Putting your measures in place, raising taxes, lowering threshold would make the government of day even less...

The Daimler V8 was a good engine in its 2.5 and 4.5 guises but this is what company records said. "Limited investment in tooling for the 2.5-litre engine led to limited production capacity, with a maximum weekly output of 140 engines. This prescribed maximum output was never achieved during the...

Flecc Back to our discussion re investment post war / Atlee etc. What everyone fails to remember around this time was the Marshal plan. The UK, Germany and France benefitted to the tune ( in modern terms ) of around 140 billion pounds. The biggest recipient was us ( UK) we got 26% in 1948...in...

The Lada never used the twin cam engine. I never ever saw a twin cylinder Imp. Only engine I ever saw in Imp was SOHC alloy block 4 cylinder on a slant...hanging behind rear axle.. Normally was 850 but you could get it stroked/ bored to 998.( they still use them in side cars, but not many left)...

Flecc Buick originally designed the Rover V8 but sold the rights to Mercury Marine. The first sighting of the V8 by Rover Engineers was at Mercury Marine. "Rover cars. History relates that McWilliams first saw the Buick V8 at the works of Mercury Marine, where he was discussing the sale of Rover...

In the1960's Fiat designed the Fiat Twin Cam..in effect that same engine can be found under bonnets of fiats upto 1990,s and gave basic design ( same structure/ valve design) in Lancia Integrale. There simply were no new engines built/ designed in UK untill Honda amalgamation. That was purely to...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The Imp was a flawed design and the engine not new at all. It was a Coventry Climax water pump engine originally..and shoe horned into car use. Yes a good basic design but a compromise. It wasn't designed to be thrown around in a car and had to be detuned. It was chosen because it was available...

Germany was perhaps in an even worse position and they've done OK too. It didn't seem that good at the time, as I recall. Yes, they were. British Army put Volkwagen Beetle back in production in Germany with UK cash. That seems quite ironic now, considering our own car builders received not a...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That's why so much Russian money is here. And flecc , your explanation is simply your opinion. The entire UK car industry was way under invested and that's why it collapsed. We were building 1940 engines in 1960. Look at Fiat, Citroen, Volkwagen..by 1960 all building modern engines whilst we...

But that very policy reduced revenue. Top earners move abroad, pay clever accountants, invest offshore and find ways around high tax levels. The extra tax revenue available ( obviously it can be increased) would never pay for stuff Corbyn expects. Look at his manifesto. If it were so was so easy...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Yes but the trouble is now all Corbyn,s ideas for raising the money he needs have been attempted before and actually had the reverse affect. His plans to increase business tax just as businesses are facing Brexit ( ???) would at best be problematic. His policy of dropping threshold for high tax...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Steb / Flecc If I were picking an uncle for my grand kids , yes Corbyn would be top of list but let me ask you this, and be honest...If you had a business to run and you were taken ill would you chose May or Corbyn to run it for you in your absence ? I had a good read of Labour's GE manifesto...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

And assuming Corbyn takes over you really think it will be the land of milk and honey under him ?? Yes, the conservatives seem immoral, probably corrupt to the core...but exactly what can Corbyn do...especially with the fools around him ? I agree he seems the most sincere of the lot of...

Just put me straight Steb. Was Westminster going to be disbanded had we stayed in EU..I thought we were keeping both sets of prostitutes , which is at best hedonistic and worst very wasteful. Cant quite understand why we need two sets, surely one lot can do the job..
