Is It Safer Riding an Electric Bike?

I agree that a good deal of safety is down to the cyclist him or herself. Totally disagree on you comment of about the type of bike making no difference to safety. Size, weight, tyres, brakes, mud guards and responsiveness all contribute to safety. Different bikes and or tyres for summer and...

4th London Cyclist killed in 8 days

Surely you are not serious? The fool on the cycle was entirely to blame.

    Changing appearance ?

One of the larger motorcycle covers should do the trick. These can be picked up cheaply. You may however need to cut a small hole in it so you see where you are going. Added bonus of staying dry when raining.

4th London Cyclist killed in 8 days

For anyone to say that it is nescessary to ride alongside, they're welcome to do so. Personally I'll listen to my little internal voice, it usually but not always corrects me when I'm planning something stupid. Whatever, I'll concentrate on staying out of their blind spots, even if it...

4th London Cyclist killed in 8 days

Flecc Do you think some cyclists intentionally ride up the inside of these vehicles or is it a case of these vehicles coming alongside? I cannot imagine anyone cycling up the inside on purpose. As they say, if you can't see me I can't see you.

    MapMyRide

I use GB and Parks, much the same sort of set up. My leisure riding is mostly off road and this app is O/S map based. Costs a few quid for some of the maps. Brilliant, found places and routes I didn't know existed.

    Another cyclist death in London

If you are unfortunate enough to be in London in the 1st place, then the moral of the story might be, don't cycle on the roads. To be stuck in London and get run over would be a double blow for me. Is there ever going to be an answer when so many people choose to live, work and travel in...

    Yet Another Ebike Theft

If I had one, I would. I am simply saying a device such as this could be implemented by the manufactures of E bikes, and or controllers. I believe that there are similar devices that can purchased and fitted in the head tube of a cycle, you would however need to periodically replace the...

    Yet Another Ebike Theft

I'd have the tracker with a small rechargeable battery. This being topped up every time the main cycle battery was connected. This way you can remove the main battery and the tracker keeps working. Pay as you go tracker just texts you lat and long co ordinates when moved. No need for a...

    Another cyclist death in London

My point being that a pedestrian on a footpath does not expect to be run over by a truck. In the same sentence a cyclist on a "Superhighway" or any other path specifically allocated to cyclists should be protected from vehiclular hazards and death. Sure, there are a lot or roads where it would...

    Another cyclist death in London

Its a Superhighway to Heaven. Jesus Christ!, how many poor sods have to die in this way before someone takes a serious look at this? The little b****rds who profess to run this country take enough money for us to fix this almost overnight. I for one request that they use my taxes and get on...

    Yet Another Ebike Theft

Looks somewhat better. Will not stop thefts but I can't help thinking that the manufacturers of these bikes could quite cheaply build in a cost effective tracker during production.

    Side swipped by a van.

The legislators may or may not have been insistent that pedelecs are bicycles for those who need assistance. It matters not. We are working in realtime now. People like Haibike and several other manufactures are clearly targeting at the young and fit. This can only be good for all. These...

    Side swipped by a van.

Flecc, for the less fit and those who need them? I can easily do without a pedelec, it just happens to suit my needs at times. Makes life easy when towing or into a strong head wind. I do not see that these should be seen as bikes for the weak only. A perception I come across on my way to...
