Its only cheating if its a race. In case of commuter race there are no rules.

    Bosch ebike motor reliability

Bike discount sell, tool, spare locking ring nuts(PN20025729) and orings that go with them. Also bearing service kit and grease(PN20034759). NB locking rings do wear where tool engages.

Today my Helmet has saved me a Headache

I don't have problem with local compulsory helmet law but some regulations are just over top. Friend is child care worker, the children have to wear highviz vests for walks, even though they are on footpaths, parks and beaches.

    Bosch ebike motor reliability

Try to keep degreasers away from chainring and bearing. Clean chainring with brush, cloth and maybe plastic pick, shouldn't need degreaser.

Looking for a good all rounder new ebike

If riding is cruising on good surfaces eg road, railtrails and canal paths then dutch style step through is hard to beat for comfort, plus sizing is not critical. The next choice is hubdrive or factory crankdrive (bosch, shimano). The hub drives around £1000 while factory crankdrives are...

Hi, i have CFS, wondering if an ebike is right for me and which type?

Direct drive motors are not very good climbers and add considerable resistance when turned off.

    Real Life Range

50-60kmin MTB park, 60% climbing in eco about 30% in tour, rest non assist or turbo. Climbing in eco is definitely way to increase range but boring especially on forest roads. Tour on single track is fun, while turbo is create for boring forest roads. EMTB are great for exploring, eg...

Crank Drive - Stronger chain necessary? Gear change sensor worth having?

You shouldn't crunch gears on factory middrives (bosch, shimano), just need to easy off or stop pedaling for a second, motor will run on slightly and complete gear change. Takes a little while to get hang of. Chain life varies depending on drivetrain and type of riding. In my case 1000kms for...

Electric bike advice, concern re Bosch CX?

Only issue I've heard of is overheat alarm if doing big climbs in Boost mode. Not a reliability issue more performance issue.

Unfortunately we are unlikely to hear from riders brain damaged from an accident. They will have important things to do with their time than this forum.

New Legal Speed Limit: What should it be?

There is no speed limit in NZ YET. Mosts bikes are 15 or 20mph as they are built for Europe or USA market. We will eventually use one of these speeds, if UK does change their limit it will most likely be 20mph.

    Dropper post worth it?

You don't need to be MTBing to enjoy benefits of dropper. I use my around town all time, nice to be able plant both feet on ground at intersections while waiting for lights to change. The only downside is if using hardtail it is either suspension seatpost or dropper.

Electric bike advice, concern re Bosch CX?

For equivalent bike with better specs checkout Merida ebig tour 500 or XT, go for 2018 with 500wh better. Air forks and better gearing for offroading. Shimano STEPS has same power as Active Plus but slightly noisier.

Road climber in Pyrenees looking for off road e-bike ideas

Battery life and range a side any eMTB with factory middrive (bosch, Shimano, Brose Yamaha) should give you hours of off road riding on 500wh battery. You have choice between cheaper hardtails or dearer more capable full suspension eMTB. If you are into fast downhill single tracks or climbing...

Today my Helmet has saved me a Headache

My wife had front wheel clip edge path and slideout, she end up with massive black eye, dazzed and damage to temple part of helmet. This was at 5-10km on sealed cycleway. I've no doubt her new CORRECTLY fitted helmet saved her from worst injury. Just falling sideways at low speed onto sealed...

Electric mountain bike for a grand?

Both front and rear brakes on this bike need bleeding twice because brakes slowing came on over time (months) with little use. Replaced them when they did it 2nd time. Can't remember model name but had round pads. My wife's bike has different tektro model that take shimano BS01 pads, had no...

Electric mountain bike for a grand?

Likely to be better brakes than entry level hydraulic Tektro on my sons bike, at least cable ones don't need bleeding every 6 months because pads start rubbing. I binned them and replaced with entry level shimanos.
