    Help with bike for commute

For commuting about 8 miles of some road and not many hills I think you can't go wrong with a rear hub motor, less wear on the drive system than a mid motor and more relaxing to ride regarding gear changing. Something like the Woosh Rio, or oxygen S-cross CB , even if they are not local to you...

    Small Rear Xiongda Motor

And now the Xiongda is on my sons beat up heavy paper-round bike. PAS only with speed restricted to 12mph, may sneak it a bit lower. Can the throttle be programmed to walk assist only on these Lishui controllers?

    Battery life

Maybe your using too high gears too often? These mid motors like to spin fast, at their efficient rpm which also uses less battery.

    Battery life

The battery spec says Continuous Discharge Current: 20-25A and the motor could be pulling 25a so is that not within the spec of the battery? With a max discharge of 42.5A available. What discharge C rating would you look for as a good guide for a suitable cell for a specific power need?

    Switched from SWXB to Q100H

It's good yours feels great at 14a. I tried my rear version at 15a and thought it felt a bit underpowered from what I am used to. I then tried it at 17a and that brought it to life-a bit more responsive. I also tried it at 20a but didn't feel much difference from 17a Not sure how long it can...

Adding a bms to lipo 10s.

Another step nearer, got some switches and heatshrink. Did not know what size heat shrink to buy so ordered a few differenty sizes. Turns out the order was just over £15 gpb which apparently means I get charged import VAT on the whole amount plus a Royal Mail admin charge ontop has nearly...

    Switched from SWXB to Q100H

The motor is 260rpm@36v, maybe your battery was at about 40v which would make it spin about 11% faster@290rpm

I wish they made a cassette version too. This gives you an idea of how small it is.

20" rear motor for kids ebike.

I missed the 10spd cassette requirement, your Q100C 328rpm is probably a more suitable option for that.

    Switched from SWXB to Q100H

I used the Q100H 260rpm in this build and would recommend it, it's quiet and powerful for it's size. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/ebike-build-from-scratch.29930/

20" rear motor for kids ebike.

If your friend can get a motor laced into a rim the Xiongda YTW-06 is a good one. I am currently putting one onto my sons bike now he's old enough. It can be purchased direct from Xiongda. The Lishui controller which I got with it is an 11a one...
