Terminal Grease???

So....Unboxed and assembled the KTM today, was expecting a PDI sheet with it but it's now all assembled as it should be. I'll take it to work and run over it with the torque wrench and give it the PDI just in case....

Now, unlocked and removed the battery- is the grease that is there on the terminals just to prevent corrosion whilst it has been in storage prior to sale, or is it necessary to keep out water while being used? The pack I received explains nothing about this, and the E-bike I used on Tenerife last year had clean terminals, but that's a semi arid climate not the Scottish Highlands..... can anyone enlighten me???

Grease will help with anti sparking and corrosion, if need be use dialectic grease for contacts.

Any silicone grease will do
Its only to stop corrosion by keeping water off the contacts

Thanks for the replies- this has been the most confusing bit of buying it. There was a fair amount of grease on the battery and the bike terminals, I used cotton buds to remove the excess. I can see the point of applying before going out in cruddy conditions to prevent shorting etc, but then after a ride should I adopt a cleaning regime of cleaning the terminals etc and can you use a solvent to remove old grease (GT85 or WD40??) before putting on fresh grease??

Just been out in the shed with a Petzl headtorch. Got Copaslip grease and also found a tube of Finish Line Teflon Grease which says is good for keeping out salt water (Scottish roads are slathered in salt it at this time of year)
Doesn't seem to be silicone or dielectric though....

thats what i use but if its a bosch motor you need to do the motor bearings as well.

Got the bike from them- just ordered 2 tubes of that grease, 2 drive side main bearing seals too.... Might refrain from any wet/messy use until these arrive! Off to Manchester on Friday for the weekend and Edinburgh with work when I get back until Thursday so no desperate hurry to get out on it as it's pitch black and freezing !!! I'd rather get primed on what to watch for rather than go out and wreck it....

But for the battery connections, wouldn't dielectric grease be better than just silicone crease? The problem being, add the word dielectric to any grease and the price more than triples.
