    Bike Transport

Hadn't come across internal bike racks before - might get one for my Volvo V70. I have a towball mounting rack, but the car is already too long for some parking spaces and with the rack sticking out at the back its like trying to park a bus!

Help! My first bike conversion kit

The Woosh Bikes website should be your first port of call - they have a wide variety of kits to choose from (both fully and not-quite legal) including hub and crank drive jobbies. Their pre- and post-sale support is fantastic - they really go the extra mile to make sure that you get all the...

    Another white bike Wooshed!

Last year I electrifried my old Saracen bike with a Woosh XF08-CST kit. It was a great success, but the bike had always been a bit big for me and with a dodgy knee it was becoming a problem. In the autumn I transferred the kit over to a new white Forme Stag mountain bike and that has been really...

    Question about Woosh and Cassette

Most bikes made for the UK market have freehub/cassette gears (they slide onto splines attached to the wheel) so the Woosh XF08 kit allows you to re-use the gears from your existing bike, saving a bit of dosh. (Freewheel gears are more common in Europe and very common in the rest of the world...

    CAR RACK FOR 2 E-BIKES?

Best to check with Pendle, but there aren't many 5kg bikes around so it must be 15kg per bike x 3 = 45. If the top of the hatch is glass or plastic, then they do special thingies to replace the hooks on the top straps so that the load is taken by the inside of the hatch frame. Just done 400+...

    Interesting seat suspension device.

For similar money you can get a Suntour SP12-NCX seat post. The seat angle doesn't change and it's damped so it doesn't bounce. Downside is that it is heavy, but that doesn't really matter on ebikes. I've had the simple sprung posts in the past and they help a bit - the Suntour is much better...

    CAR RACK FOR 2 E-BIKES?

Have a look at the Pendle standard strap-on rack. I have one and it is really sturdy. According to their web site the load rating is 15kg, but that must be per bike as it takes up to three giving a total of 45kg

Schwalbe smart Sam, terrible on wet tarmac!

Had Sams and found them OK, but changing to Kenda Small Block 8s has been an eye opener. Much better grip in all conditions. Downside of them is slightly higher rolling resistance and the whine of the blocks on tarmac.

Could you give me your opinion on this kit?

So did they arrive? and if so, did they come with 44T chainwheels as shown in the original photo? I really need a 48 or 50T chainwheel for my wife's bike, plus a smaller one (39T seems to be the only one easily available) and its all getting a bit expensive if I have to change the 44T one as...

    Full Throttle ebike legal again!

It's all down to the money. £55 buys you the right to a throttle - so does £110 buy the right to a throttle and 500W and £165 to a throttle, 500W and 20+mph?

    DIY Mechanical Dongle

Agreed! I enjoyed seeing your ingenious mod - very clever. All the legal stuff not so much. It has become clear from this thread that only Bosch is squeaky clean - even DfT are accused of acting illegally! Non Bosch owners might as well give up trying to be legal and set the power and speed...

How to stop "watched thread" emails?

I've turned off everything I can see regarding emails and alerts, but still get occasional "watched thread" emails. How can I turn emails off completely please?

    Bike Security threats!

There is a story that Strava tracks allow thieves to pinpoint where fast bikes (or strong riders!) live.

    Newbie with questions

I think you're supposed to throw the tube and start again. Aldi have pre-slimed tubes at £1.99 each at the moment. The box says they have a 2-year life.

Could you give me your opinion on this kit?

Did you order any inner chainrings to go with these, or will I have to source that separately? The only ones I can find are 39T which is a bit big - would prefer something in the 33-35T range if possible. Have decided this is the best way to go for the wife's bike - I'll get my order in to Andy...

Could you give me your opinion on this kit?

Sounds pretty reasonable on price - probably worth waiting for!

Could you give me your opinion on this kit?

Good to know they are actually on their way. Have you had a chance to price them up as part of a kit yet? She'll have to decide whether to wait until after the hols or go ahead with an "ordinary" kit.

Could you give me your opinion on this kit?

Want one, want one NOW! (or at least in the next couple of weeks so I can convert the wife's bike before we go on holiday in early June). Any news on when the torque crank is likely to be available?

    Disregarding UK pedelec laws

It is hard to respect laws which are widely regarded as being arbitrary and ill thought out. Such laws bring the whole legal framework into disrespect and lead to conversations such as those above : if I can break this law with impunity why shouldn't I break that one too. The pedelec laws are...
