    Tyre pressures

No, the arbitrary system is the imperial one. The metric system relates units to each other in a consistent way. I'm pretty sure the awkward numbers thing is because you have grown accustomed to a certain set of numbers (who could blame you).

    Hi, from pedelec hopeful

In defence of front wheel Drive: On the road, front or real wheel drive makes little difference. If you have a battery at the back, a hub motor at the front gives good weight distribution. Off road, there's arguments for both. Front wheel elelctric, rear wheel pedal powered gives you a two...

    Tyre pressures

Why do you say that PSI is more precise? Surely you can't have been taken in by the old 'it uses a bigger number' argument?

    Pedal assist not working

    * When you snap your chain just as you begin to cross a busy B road on a blind bend. * When crossing a Ford. * When you don't want any assistance. * When you want to do doughnuts to impress girls.

    Adding another battery.....

You really need to look in there. If the batteries are 12v each, and the controller wants 24v then they will be in series, not parallel. If that's the case, then to increase the capacity you will need two more batteries, each parallel with the existing ones. If you only put one in, then the...

    batteries and the ah con

Sorry to put a downer on this, but lead acid fully charged is between 12.7 to 13.3v (ish). You may see a 'float' voltage above this, but as soon as you draw any current, that float will be scrubbed off. If you use 12.7v the result is 50.8v I know it's not what you want to hear, but SLA really...

    Kalkhoff

I lived in Sweden for a while, where me and my wife both bought bikes. The brakes were swapped over, front on the left, rear on right.

    Correct battery?

I expect there's a capacity limit for shipping, so the test report shows the battery as being under this. I've had similar test reports with chinese batteries.

    batteries and the ah con

That's true. It's even described in the post just above yours. Now what's that 'effect' or 'law' called again? :-)

    melted blade fuse

The mini blade fuses are not capable of 20 amps. They might sell 30 and 40a fuses, but the housings melt (and bypass the fuse!) a great deal lower. I have a large melted hole in one of my lithium batteries caused by a fcucking device that I installed for protection! The full sized ones are a...

    Readout for battery?

There's no accurate way of determining how much capacity a battery has just from volts (the only thing you can measure while it's idle). If you know (because you've measured it previously) how much capacity it has, and you know how much you've used, then you know how much remains. Another way...

    Readout for battery?

What you need is a watt meter: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=390932345418&alt=web It won't tell you how much is in there, but it will let you know how much has been taken out.

max safe limit when overvolting/amping a 48v 1000w brushless gearless hub?

Sometimes FPCSO (Fun-Police Community Support Officer) OldTom gets lost and strays over the border into places where he has no jurisdiction. Don't worry, he can't even tell you off for using the wrong re-cycling bin here. Those SLA's might be OK (ish) for testing and messing about with, but if...

Sakura Chopper build Controller help please

Sounds like a broken throttle. They often go full speed when they fail. I'm in east Devon. If you want to bring it over, PM me. I have a load of spare parts in my workshop.

max safe limit when overvolting/amping a 48v 1000w brushless gearless hub?

    1. When I went from SLA to Lithium (also 20ah) it made a significant difference in performance. 2.1 Sorry, don't know 2.2 Roughly speaking amps = torque, volts = speed. 3. For extra speed, yes Its not any safer though! "..if my bike can take it..." - I think this is a very real concern if you...

max safe limit when overvolting/amping a 48v 1000w brushless gearless hub?

There is one that I know of Tom. Its here in the UK off road, S Pedelecs and Overseas part of the Pedelecs forum. If you look closely, the time of posting suggests that our new found friend may live abroad. Either that or he has trouble sleeping. Anyway it falls to me to say Hi Jimmyhackers...
