    Soldering irons

Up to a point that's true but..... Some of the cheap ones don't have proper tips. It looks like a piece of an old screwdriver held in with a screw. Those are total junk. The tip (or bit) is the important thing. Copper coated with iron is best and with the Antex (and others) you can buy...

    Soldering irons

Antex XS 25w. Have been using these for a long time. Good all round soldering irons, £25 (ish) I have a few. Last week a bought a 12v version which works just as well as the mains version, and (for me) is a better solution for portable soldering.

    Jeremy Clarkson Suspended

A petition has been launched to replace him with Alan Partridge! Should work perfectly, the existing scripts written for Jeremy need only the occasional "Ah-Haaaa" added and the transition would be seamless. https://www.change.org/p/bbc-hire-alan-partridge-for-top-gear

    More Battery talk (sorry folks)

The BMS is going what it should, cutting power when any cell goes below 3.4v . That cell is either dead, or out of balance. It may be recoverable. You need to charge it to match the others, then charge the entire pack. If it does the same thing (goes out of balance) then that cell is dead.

Kit v New bike ? discuss.

That's what I do. I have lots of bikes, and fewer batteries that I can share between them. Bikes on eBay are cheap (if you know what to look for, and how to fix them). I agree with others though, it doesn't make much financial sense building your own if you are starting from nothing.

Can i put the battery in a rucksack?

Anderson powerpoles will solve this problem, and be a bit more manageable. Provided the cable has enough cross section area, the additional resistance from a longer cable will negligible.

That's easy though, just do it without him, or get someone similarly odious to read his script?

Sorry to hear this Cwah, you are having an awful run of bad luck lately. Hope you feel better soon.

(Allman Brothers faded down, Clarkson Voice)... Tonight on Top Gear: Hammond goes camping. May goes slowly. And Harris goes to prison for historical sex abuse...(Allmans faded back up)

It's going to be hard to justify not airing the unseen films (presumably already made and paid for) while BBC 3 are showing repeats. I'm looking at Jeremy Folk-Tard right now!

    Is this guy for real?

Nah, that's a Liffyon (as seen on eBay recently) battery, look at the colour of the plastic tape it's wrapped in. Must be. S L A: Special Liffyon Architecture.

KTM Macina 29 stolen last night

I bought a bike from eBay a few months back and the seller had fitted a high security locking device to the front wheel. He was apologetic that he had lost the 'key' for it, and was astounded when I said I had one in my pocket. I don't recall now if it was a 5 or 6mm Allen key. I would have...

    Tyre pressures

If you google "arbitrary definition" you get: "Arbitrary: based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system." Sounds just like the imperial system to me.

    Tyre pressures

...but the metric system is anything but arbitrary, and that's the problem. A system where the physical measure has been adjusted to 1 unit (pint) in order to make life easier for the inebriated may well be described as arbitrary. And then, imperial spirit measures are far more complex. 1/4...

    Torque washers

They can go inside or outside (depends on width of hub/fork), but they always engage at the opening.

    Tyre pressures

Ah, perhaps the imperial system is good for measuring body parts. I spend more time using a measurement system to describe physical quantities of stuff on good old planet earth.;)

    Tyre pressures

With all due respect, It's a bit misleading to say that the metric system is based on the circumference of the earth. Only the measurement of distance is. Mass is based on volume (admittedly cubic distance) of water. Energy on heat rise in water, pressure on distance below water. So you could...
