    Battery power:

Knowing that there's a difference between electronics and electrics puts you way ahead of the general public! Yes, those batteries will be fine for testing . They are also good for running gadgets. I use one with a cheap (less than a tenner) compressor to inflate tyres/rugby balls. I use...

    Battery power:

It's all about how you measure capacity. This particular battery states it on the front: 20hr. That means that it was measured while discharging over 20 hours, so it was delivering 0.85 amps (almost nothing in ebike terms) As Flecc said, the Peukert effect means that discharging at a greater...

Urban Myth? 36 volt batteries feeding 24 volt hub motor.

Yes, it's a big percentage if you only have the one bike. But If ebikes are your thing, at some point a 36v battery is an essential investment.

Urban Myth? 36 volt batteries feeding 24 volt hub motor.

My 24v running at 36v (SWX) tops out about 21 mph. Very little torque at that speed though, so you can really only get that on a long flat stretch.

Me too. My controller was (and still is) fine.

    1 controller operate 2 wheels?

Yes, that should work (never tried it myself though). They are normally hall effect sensors, not pots. Also, on some controllers I've noticed a start-up check. If the throttle is not present when powered on, it will be ignored until power cycled.

    1 controller operate 2 wheels?

A brushless DC motor will only spin if the correct sequence of coils are energised, and at the correct frequency and direction of current. In fact, the bit between the controller and the motor is really AC. The controller contains a microprocessor that senses and delivers the correct sequence...

    1 controller operate 2 wheels?

I think you need to tell us what you are looking to achieve. 2 wheel is going to add more weight and complication, and may not produce the result you are expecting.

Inner tube that isn't a complete circle

Gaadi tube is what they'm called, although that might be the manufacturers name. Hope that helps.

    Bafang SWXK bolt problem

I also keep an adjustable on my bike, 150mm. I doubt you will be able to over tighten with one of those. Mine's never come loose. With a 300mm spanner, use the grunt/fart method. I'd go nearly as far as a grunt. A fart would be too much.

    Hello

Stick a rack on the back, chuck the batteries in a tool bag. Don't expect much range.

Anyone do well on the Grand National?

I must be in 0.00001% then. So far this year I have doubled my money on horse racing. I expect this trend to remain true through the remainder of the year. (haha, like you its a tenner of familly fun on national day only, except this year we won something!)

    supercapacitors + battery

Jimmy, Just to back up what others are saying, you seem to have Amps and Amp Hours confused. In theory, you 20ah battery can supply 20a for 1 hour. During every second of that hour, it will be supplying 20a. Hope that helps.

Anyone do well on the Grand National?

    Yesterday, on the National with Ladbrokes, a £1 each way bet meant: Cost: £2 £1 to win. £1 to come 1-5th, at 1/4 odds. So: If you put a quid each way on at 10:1 1st: £10 + stake + £2.50 + stake : £14.50 2nd-5th: £2.50 + stake: £3.50

Anyone do well on the Grand National?

I'm very bad at remembering people's names, so I call everyone Dude. Saves embarrasment. As a result in my local they often call me Dude. I split £10 across 4 horses, one of which was called Monbeg Dude. I had £1.50 each way (50:1, top 5, 1/4 odds) so I made a £10.25 profit!

    Roll over Bethoven.

I think you might have Rap confused with Hip Hop or Gansta Rap. Either way, to dismiss it all suggests that you have only been exposed to the nonsense that appeals to teenage girls. It's rather like declaring Northern Europe to be a soulless industrial wasteland based on a half hour visit to a...

    Yet another new battery technology.

Some of these journalists need their R's kicking for factual inaccuracies. The article starts by saying scientists have invented a "...battery (that) can charge a mobile phone in one minute." I already have a few of these laying around, one in each of my cars for a start. I am assuming the...

    Do puncture resistant tires work?

Before I started with the Schwalbe Fat Frank's I had some Specialized LK's. (Low Knob!). I had a puncture after about 50 miles, and stuck em in the garage. A couple of years on, I put them on a bike I was messing with. Sure enough, a puncture on the first test ride. Anecdotal evidence I know...

    Do puncture resistant tires work?

...or it goes to show that the Kevlar layer in schwalbe (and probably other makes) tyres IS worth having. I'll admit I was sceptical at first, but after about 2500 puncture free miles I'm a convert.
