Canoe towed by bike

Featured Replies

Saw this at a Vintage bike event in Barnstaple today. He usually tows it with a Brompton and then puts the Brompton in the canoe to paddle up the river. Great idea. Crate in the middle is for his dog.

Why's he hangong out his washing over the river. It'll get covered in flies.
I'll tell you what. Without the washing line to hold on to, that canoe is going to topple with the weight of the bike that high. Should we tell him?

And spoil the fun?

He should at least take the battery off and put it into a waterproof container otherwise it will fizz a bit when it goes in the water. The rest of the bike can be fished out with a good grapnel and then dried out as long as it's not salt water.

It's not an electric bike.

This is a shorter version of the canoe seen at Barnstable. It is made of thin laths and flax, grown on his farm.

No the canoe does not topple over.

Made this many years ago in my 20's. Started as an experiment but it actually became very useful.
