Trying to construct a custom cassette

    I have begun experimenting. I would love a wide ratio 7 speed, say 11-40 (11, 15, 19, 24, 29, 34, 40). I don't have a bench grinder otherwise I would probably have chopped a few cassettes to bits already.

    2017 KTM Fogo 271

I wish they would make one for trekking bikes with say a 44 or 46. If you have ever ridden in Navarra you would know why... That would allow a Patterson Metropolis with a 36 chainring and thus a 58 overdrive. Or with a mid drive a 36-53 road double on a 130 BCD spider.

Dynamo Hub on Ebike? / Permanent Lights

I have a night and day b+m wired directly into the battery wire which leaves the controller. Disadvantage (1), limited to 42 V (I have read that they will take more V on a German forum). The row of daytime running LEDs is very good at making people stop when you have the right of way, they dim...

    Which bike to to 25-30mph?

The one judged case I know of the guy was using the same road to work every day in a vélomobile, the only vélomobile within quite a large radius.

Impulse Buy, was it a mistake?

You will certainly have a gear for each occasion! You can change down on the hub when stopped which could be useful. For me too many gears. In my ideal world 1x7 is plenty but no one makes a wide ratio 7 speed cassette do 1x8 it will be, a 38 on the front and a Sunrace 11-40 on the back...

    Crank drive performance

Nominative 250 W motor. Everyone gets the same battery. The winner goes the most distance. Next race everyone changes bikes, if the same rider can win on several different bikes then we need to factor in rider performance. Riders cannot be card holding members of road racing clubs? Special prise...

New battery technology. If or When?

The 18650 is going to be around for a while. When 21700 production kicks in seriously they (18650s) will have to go down in price, way down. For the moment $6.90 is the cheapest price on (not very interesting for us) 21700 cells, the bad boys are still at $10.

New battery technology. If or When?

    Funnily I was reading about 21700 cells today, 20 Amps constant from a 4P10S 37 V 16 Ah doesn't sound too bad!

    Crank drive performance

A motor is some copper wound around a core, a bunch of magnets, a few bearings and gears in a metal box. The controller is where things get interesting... I think that the max has more potential. I am not surprised it won that race and we certainly need more races to advance the technology.

    How cool is this!

Looked pretty clean, maybe commercial. I was walking along the seafront and it went by, didn't get a chance to have a closer look.

    Most Trusted Suppliers - BBS02

The BBS02 250 and 350 W are identical. The controller is set at the factory to different A values. The 350 W also exists in a 48 V version which is a de-tuned 500 W version IIRC. The 500 W motor weighs about 500 g more so most likely contains more copper winding. Now if you want to be...
