Maybe they are only like that when on foreign (EU) soil. 1998? 2016? Oh, and I am much worse than you think ;)

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

I did a little experiment with the GSM: - 10 Ah LiPo 15C rating (150 Amps but over on ES they say 20-25% is more realistic) so say 30 Amps constant or 2 x the controller max of 15 Amps. The battery sags by about 1-1.5 V at full power - 20 Ah LiPo 10 C rating so about 40 Amps constant, the sag...

    Lions Supporters in NZ

Next time we could send you some football fans too just so you don't get the wrong idea about English supporters... We could mix in some Russians if you want, that is kind of like mixing red hot chili peppers into your favorite dish  They play a game called "pass the stadium...

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

No you still get sag because you have privileged distance over power, you want at least 30Qs if not HD2s with a 22 Amp controller and those motors. You only get 15 Ah for the same number of cells but 60 A or 80 A current on tap. What is the BMS Amp rating? I have nuked a bottle battery with my...

    Off-Road Mainly, Conversion Ideas

400 metres? Only if you aren't pedaling... My test hill is paved but 900 metres long and nope, not even warm. 3.4 km of 7% at assistance level 5 and me not participating much because in town clothes? Luke warm.

    It made me think ........

Ever been to the Pyrenees? My GF is a long time around town and beyond cyclist and just yesterday she said she had seen a retired couple with a trailer full of camping gear behind his bike, hers with panniers and was envious but didn't feel capable of any long range touring without a...

    Tour de France today

I was wondering about an e-bike competition the other day. I think all teams could be supplied with the same 36 V battery (ies) and everything else is up to them. Say a race on a nice hilly course with a decent straight: prize for those who go the furthest, prize for highest speed on straight...

Helping wife back on to bike after pregnancy

Q128C with 12S LiPo would be my starting point. Graphene packs are given for 600 cycles and so far I have no reason to believe that isn't true. Yes they cost more, yes they weigh a little more but they pack a punch, charge faster and are absolutely puff free in e-bike usage.

    Dahon Ciao D7 electric

If things don't go well at the bank Tuesday, later in the year I will convert a Tern Node D8 because I have issues with a new neighbour and need a folder. It has a max load capacity of 115 kg and bigger 24" wheels while still folding down to a reasonable size. The only modification needed other...

28mph / 45kph pedelec with good range for commuting.

A second hand vélomobile would be ideal for your range and budget. Without electric assist in your physical condition, you didn't talk about hills but if there are you could add a motor to help move the extra weight in the climbs. I would guess you could easily hold 35-40 km/h average over your...

    Small Rear Xiongda Motor

This motor does have a huge potential! We will have to see how it holds out heat wise on long climbs. I have tried using 350 W - plus my 120 W gives a handy 470 W - peak on my regular climb and it works, about 15 km/h top speed but it is just enough to help people like me with weak lungs get about.

Helping wife back on to bike after pregnancy

If you really want to use LiPo it is best to use 4 x 12 Ah because if you want to look after them and charge to 4.15 per cell and discharge to 3.65 you need 24 Ah nominative to have your 20 Ah usable. And paralleling two 12 Ah packs then serial connecting will give you more oompf when you need...

    Motorhome, Dog Trailer & Europe

You will feel the trailer on acceleration and especially braking. 21 kg is about average for a trailer load of shopping for me you will be fine. 50 km sounds reasonable. You want a trailer with quick detach wheels like on wheelchairs. The IKEA one might do the job even though they say no kids...

Most powerful eBike for long uphill journeys?

The information on gearing is very useful even for us road riders when the roads in question are in the Pyrenees. Marc over at electric trike has been briefing me on short cranks already, he is a bit shorter than me and uses 160 or 155, I think I will be going for 165 mm. I am using 7 speed...

Lack of full suspension tour bikes

The long range touring lark has picked my fancy too. BUT... I can only do that in the winter months and I can't imagine myself in rain gear on a bike, full suspension or not, for 240 km. You know where this is going... Three wheels, a body and a nice comfy reclining seat.

Lack of full suspension tour bikes

My roads must be smoother or you are thinking of unpaved path touring? In which case there are FS eMTBs with the necessary to attach mudguards etc. For me the rear suspension eating up some of my effort when climbing outweighs any eventual road handling advantages on sealed roads. I have no...
