    Disappointed in Scott

Throwing a little oil on the fire here... Brose has recently announced a new version of its motor with a power curve "à la Bosch". http://www.bike-eu.com/home/nieuws/2017/7/brose-develops-e-mtb-motor-10130506

    Disappointed in Scott

Yamaha don't make washing machines which is why I'd stay well clear of Bosch... :p

Single speed - Ebike ( fixie style ) mid drive

What we are saying is that you posted in the wrong subject. You could have posted in http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/forums/speed-pedelecs-s-pedelecs-non-eapcs-overseas.43/ and the above comments would not have been made. Oh and you can replace UK by EU still (at least until 2019) mode change...

schwalbe energiser plus 47-584 query ?

With today's tyres it is more where you ride not what tyres you ride on that define the rate of punctures. I am lucky to ride on relatively clean roads and my Big Bens are wearing out, not going flat after about 1700 km. I like these tyres because they are really sticky and I haven't noticed...

    Trailer

I had thought of that you just need enough decent gauge wire to reach the controller and attach it with velcro strips along the way. The IKEA trailer is my current favorite: light, easy remove 20" wheels, the tow bar flips up so you can use it as a hand cart.

    High mileage

Mxus has about 3600 km and GSM about 1800 km. The GSM fought me every inch of the way during installation but has run like a clock ever since. I did not do a normal install...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The roads aren't that great. Solar panels probably the best bet for charging your bikes battery.

    lots of hate out there

Wellington would require a HUGE battery for the shortest commutes in some parts of town! And headwinds... They can be strong enough to stop a VW Beetle dead in its tracks (real life experience).

Battery life v Weight and Terrain

To add to the above: when you are asthmatic you can climb just about any hill seated and MUCH faster than without a motor and in granny gear. My hub motor bike could climb pretty much anything at cut off speed (you learn to ride at 1 km/h below 25 km/h cut off) and I was using down to 5.35 W/km...

Suaoki 800A Peak Car Jump Starter 20000mAh

LiPo has very large current potential. I accidentally spot welded two crocodile clips together  in my kitchen  lots of sparks and one thermal sweat shirt with metal in fusion holes burnt through was the only damage lucky me...

    Small Rear Xiongda Motor

That should get it hot. I used to pedal a lot uphill with the hub motor and use the assistance levels as a front crankset (the derailleur was disconnected on the old bike - broken shifter). Nowadays I would actually use the front crankset and just use the motor to give me the extra Watts to...

    recumbent Trike

A trike is on my list of things to do ASAP. Two strategies as you say, I have a spare hub motor in a 26" wheel so that is an easy choice to make :) The EM3ev 250 W 25 Amp BBS02 motor being my favorite option because you have a wider choice of gearing and lots of street legal power, it should...

    Charging laptop battery to 80%?

In my Sony Vaio battery it was a BMS that looked very similar. Without it in the clone I bought to replace the original the software bit couldn't predict run time, the simpler BMS just controlling charging and LVC.
