No because the crank arms wouldn't then be a good fit on 20mm axle. You could make a bush to hold one of the smaller ISIS bearings though. and it is possible to buy that special NBR bearing if you're really stuck, at the time I wasn't convinced it was the right size at 21.4 mm. but it's probably...
Thanks Eddie, I tried several large bearing retailers, all came back and said it was a custom bearing. I did also look at imperial bearings at the time, but nothing matched.
It was the ISIS compatible spindle that dictated the centre bore size, however cartridge bearings that fit in a normal bottom bracket are smaller in both diameter and width. Drawings of them list the size between 21.2mm and 21.4 mm in diameter.
I forget now, but I did get a price from the far east for a batch of them, Again I forget how many was a minimum, 500 perhaps more.
Oh hang on NBR bearings I think. Not sure this is exactly the right bearing, but NBR do make custom bearings.
Only the standard drive side one which had a huge amount of play, the one with the unusually sized centre bore on the opposite end of the shaft had to be refitted and soldier on.
The engineering places I approached said they couldn't enlarge the bore of a bearing. But if you can find one that may help someone if they need the bearing.
You need a 42 x 20 x 12 bearing bored to 21.3 mm (roughly)
I've been trying to help Phill via PM after he messaged me. Phill's bearing is...
There is a crank speed sensor. I do occasionally match that 1 :1 and get a brief error, the system allows it to happen briefly, but yours will be matching it perfectly.
That's why I said "what should have been wheel speed"
The new Bosch motor does complicate matters slightly, but I'm still surprised Bosch haven't done something to prevent what was an early cheat on the system.
I'm amazed that this works for you. Bosch in their quest to prevent people doing this set it up so an error code came up when crank speed matched what should have been wheel speed, so the system then knows what you've done because the crank speed is exactly matching the wheel sensor speed (on...
To fully understand my point you need to ride a Chinese bike, say a Woosh CD, then you'll appreciate that a Bosch is actually giving assistance in that 3/4 of a pedal revolution, it just doesn't come in as strongly as on the Yamaha.
